Have anybody seen Slum dog Millionaire. I am happy that Rehman has won the Oscar but somehow I feel that by writing about slums we are still make westerners think that we are a lot of slums and a lot of poverty .

Yes I have seen it.
The movie is based on a novel written by an Indian, but the writer & director of the movie are British.
Slums are a reality, so nothing portrayed in the film about them is false.
Plus what is shown in the movie egarding slums is central to the storyline.
And Rehman has not won an Oscare yet...he's nominated for it.But I'm sure he'll win.![]()
It is correct that India is a land of slum
and poverty , But as a writer I hate to present that image .
I am writng cross over scripts as far as possible I am
presenting India as culturally rich people.

i loved the movie...cant see the point in all the unecessary controversies it is makin...
i just hated the movie.. compared to US indeed India is developing.. but tht doesnt mean.. for India.. they have to portrait such picture.. like slums..
besides.. tht scene.. in which the kid goes to show the NRI travellers.. REAL INDIA.. and when they come back near car they found tht all tyres n wheels and everything was stolen ... gosh.. annd than one guy comes and start beating tht kid.. and lastly those travellers pitied on the poor kid.. and told to guy stop beating and gave the kid some $$$$ huh.. what the meaning behind the scene?? tht in India like this happens to ppl who come from abroad to see n travel India?? or in other way.. those NRI they prover to be very nice.. tht they gave money inspite their car parts were stolen>>>?? ha.. bull **** movie....
all in all besides.. i dont think in anyone's life it happens like all the instances will happen same as per the questions to be asked to tht guy in future in tht millionaire tv serial.. sounds tooooo stupid tht in one way the hero portrait was like in his life he dint had much of family life, nor parents support also no money or education.. lol and he whaeve he got the questions were exactly same what happened in his past life.. lol.. sounds a perfectly co incidenced sad movie..

yeah ur right upto some extent.these phirangis r at their best when projecting india as a third world country.the movie was good, but it was completely a fantasy movie.its all hype.these phirangis love to see the penury of other nations not as well to do as theirs.its true.slumdog millionaire was a big hit just coz they showed the slums of india the poverty faced by the people of india.thats the only reason.or the extraordinary fantasy tale moved the phirangi public.we all know phirangis love fantasy movies.the idiotic harry potter good for nothing movie.star wars where nothing is real, all special effects.slumdog millionaire should ve been nominated under the fantasy tale category.
yes.. i will vote 1st/.. lol.. if it can be categorie into fantacy movie.. lol... sometyimes i really think it.. wonder y ppl like so much of english fantasy movies.. nothing is real.. huh.. think of spiderman, batman, matrix, harry potter.. lol.. all crap but yet.. dont know.. ppl are mad behind all such movies.. i dont tell completely against such movies.. but still its difficult to accept some things especially someone tells our country bad at our credit n gets nominated.. bloody firangis. other movies though not real i dont feel like creating such a big issue though.
India shall always be in the eyes of the westerners:
1. Land of slums and leprosy
2. Land of Innumerable Gods, deities, among which there is also an elephant god
3. Land of stupid call centre executives who try to put on false accents and get caught all the time
4. Land of people who don't use toilet paper but use their hands to wipe their asses
5. Land of people who stink of spice like turmeric
6. Land of wimps who don't have the guts to take on Pakistan
7. Land of slaves whose greatest achievement would be getting a wife whose colour is about 10 percent of the firangis
8. Land of shitters who squat rather than sit on a toilet seat
9. Land of ****,drains, flies, bad train toilets and corrupt airline officials
10. Land of people who abhor instances of public affection but are comfortable with ancient sculptures depicting extreme and impossible sexual positions.
they r too clever.why dont we ask others who completely support the millionaire movie.why hasnt any indian mainstream movie ever been successful in hollywood ?.coz we dont show the bukmari, the slums, the semi clad people who have no clothes to wear and these phirangis think their country is 100% educated and all their citizens r the tatas and the birlas.they ve more beggars than our nation and more people who live on the streets.phirangis think india is a third world nation and the movie slumdog millionaire is exactly the kinda movie they wanna watch.the bukmari and the poverty and dude they sincerely think india is a land of slums.the movie was good but this kinda movie projecting a nation like india as a slum nation is unacceptable.these phirangis have done this many times depicting many countries as **** compared to theirs.okay if we sideline this aspect and practically approach the movie, its wonderful.it indeed is but in that respect any indian mainstream movie should ve done much better than slumdog millionaire in hollywood.this is what i object the most.
Can you say with certainty that what is shown in the movie
doesn't happen in India? What have you done to
change this situation? Why don't you do something to
change it instead of cribbing about people who show these
things.

who said what they showed doesnt happen in india.slum aint the only thing in india.read my previous post.mainstream indian movies r not successful in hollywood then why slumdog millionaire.and by the way what u want me to do.is it that easy to change india.why did we elect the government to do us good.what has the government done to improve the standard of living in india.me aint cribbing about ur phirangi giants.i wrote all those coz i know their mentality.they dont respect indians.i can ask u the same question.what ve u done to improve india.i argued upon a point which u missed to notice.it has nothing to do with the slums.but why only slumdog millionaire, why not others.coz they know showing the slums is the only way the capture the phirangi hearts.
OK, Tell me one mainstream Indian movie this year that you
think is Oscar caliber and why. and then we can go from there.
-F
i argued about indian movies not doing well in hollywood.i didnt say indian movies deserve an oscar.slumdog millionaire did well then why not any other indian movie much better than slumdog millionaire.lagaan, black, devdas, taare zameen par, gadar were all outstanding movies but none of them won an oscar.oh the directors forgot to include the slums in all these movies, thats the reason none of them won any oscar.so the key to oscars when it comes to indian movies is showing the slums.
maybe the reason is as follows, (not your conspiracy theory)
from wikipedia.
Rules
Today, according to Rules 2 and 3 of the official Academy Awards Rules, a film must open in the previous calendar year, from midnight at the start of January 1 to midnight at the end of December 31, in Los Angeles County, California, to qualify
