    Default Review: Taken [2008]

    Taken [2008]: Thriller/Action

Cast: Liam Neeson(Schindlers List, Batman Begins,Love Actually etc)
Famke Janssen (Golden Eye, X Men series)
Maggie Grace (The Fog, TV Series LOST)

Directed by Pierre Morel (Cinematographer of Transporter)
    Studio: 20th Century Fox
Subtitles available for Xvid at Subscene.com
Axxo Rip: Audio 10 Video 10

Plot: Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) is a divorced, former paramilitary officer from the CIA's famed Special Activities Division. His 17-year-old daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) lives with his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) and her new wealthy husband Stuart (Xander Berkeley). Mill's ex-wife does not approve of his(Liam Neeson) attempts to get close to their daughter. But Mills has retired from the CIA and now living close to his seperated family in order to rebuild a relationship with his daughter whom he had'nt been able to give much time before due to the nature of his work.
The daughter Kim goes off on a tour of Europe with a friend. In Paris they are kidnapped by a group of Albanian sex traffickers and are about to be sold to high bidders from around the world. Here Kim's stepfather, a rich man, is of no use and totally helpless. Mills(Liam) comes to know about his daughter's abduction whereupon he rushes to Europe. There, he uses the old skills from his CIA days and embarks on a breathtaking rescue operation.

Opinion: I have always been a sucker for Liam Neeson movies. This guy is old (56 yrs), probably a contemporary of Harrison Ford etc. but his movies never cease to amaze me. Those who have seen Schindler's List would know that he was nominated for the Academy. Another sampler is a movie called Seraphim Falls where he plays the role of a relentless pursuer out for revenge on an ex-confederate officer (Pierce Brosnan) who had done him a terrible wrong in the war. I am digressing but the point is that Liam Neeson does not act in shitty movies. This film "Taken" is a testimony to this. The ethos he portrays when he is faced with hopelessness about his kidnapped daughter's whereabouts is worthy of praise. He plays the role of the ruthless father to perfection who would kill anyone who stood between him and his daughter. Anyone who has a daughter (I have one) will be able to immediately identify himself with the desperate father that Neeson plays in the film. The action sequences are good and the movie is fast paced
    RATING: 8.5 out of 10

This is My Rating ! IMDB ratings, in my opinion, do not always reflect the truth about a movie. Opinions may differ, however.
