i guess sci_fic and horror are mixed up these days same old story ....people die and become mutants going around eating people....is that horror?...na i dont think so....real horror movie would be the classic theories which our elders tell us(or refrain) where there are 'ghost',souls of dead people which makes there presence felt by various creepy ways... 'spirits' which cannot be seen by everyone but can be felt by there 'ora' around you....giving chills to your spine

the idea of horror should be to scare you...not to make you puke..gore movies....sorry they dont scare me.

Mirrors:2008: Kiefer Sutherland is a night watchman of a burnt out shopping mall for the Insurance Co. He finds out that the mirrors in the mall don't simply give you a reflection, but the images seem to have a ideas of their own. A psychological-paranormal combo horror flick. After this you might just think twice before you look into a mirror in some deserted bathroom.
    Low gore, yet frightening.

The midnight meat train: 2008: A documentary photographer stumbles onto a deadly serial killer who has made the city metro(subway) into his favorite hunting ground. Excessive gore. A must watch for those who can handle the blood and body parts.

Hostel: 2005: A couple of American backpackers are lured to an obscure town in Czechkoslavakia where the women are pretty and ready for sex. What they did not bargain for was the dark secret of the town where human beings are..............Oh yes, this is a Quentin Tarantino flick. Massive gore

Wrong Turn 2 Dead End: 2008. A group of participants in a reality TV survivor show while on shoot in the mountains of West Virginia face the terrifying reality of the inbreeding deformed mountain people who love fried human kidneys for breakfast. Super gore.

Saw V:2008: The saga of John Kramer, the famous serial killer from the earlier Saws, continues even after the killers death. Who has taken the mantle of Kramer? See the movie to find out. Medium gore.

There are more like Hostel 2, The Eye, Turistas etc. More in the next post:38:
    thanks for this horror movies..........

Well I wanna put some other movie as well since one of Ur favorite movie is in my all time classic list Ring -1
Ring -2 is another brilliant movie but comes second to when it comes to earlier part.
In my opinion Grudge-1 & 2 are also brilliant scary movie series and is out and out horror flicks so if U'ven't watched it go right ahead and see them and I'm sure U won't get disappointed at all it's my claim aur han in dono movie me Ring wali story nahi milegi that is why I stressed out and out horror flicks!unk:

I had my time when i was obsessed with J-Horror movies. But i guess you see one and you seen em all is the case here. The one horror id recommend is "braindead" by peter jackson of the lord of the rings fame.

Saurav, you had asked for recommendations.

Have you seen Flatliners? If not, I would recommend it.

    Post 1408

Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name, 1408 is about supernatural writer Mike Enslin, an author of two successful books on supernatural phenomena.

As research for the ending of his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. He believes that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumors that Enslin has collected for his past works. However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin's stay and only warns him of possible danger to come. Enslin is determined to go anyway. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon but check out from the world.

Saw it last night.....would rate it around 7/10.... could sit thru the movie....initial bits were a lil boring....n strechted....

    good performance by Cussack!

1408, I can't believe i forgot to mention this movie. I saw this some months ago. Short stories make great movies. Something along the lines of "dus kahaniya".

I don't know if anyone here knows but the dus kahaniya story structure is a rip off of a hbo series named "strange frequency".
