    Default Some Horror Movies

Here are a list of horror movies (2005 - 2009) that you might like to check out if you are a fan of the genre. I've indicated the gore quotient too so that you know what you're in for:

Mirrors:2008: Kiefer Sutherland is a night watchman of a burnt out shopping mall for the Insurance Co. He finds out that the mirrors in the mall don't simply give you a reflection, but the images seem to have a ideas of their own. A psychological-paranormal combo horror flick. After this you might just think twice before you look into a mirror in some deserted bathroom.
    Low gore, yet frightening.

The midnight meat train: 2008: A documentary photographer stumbles onto a deadly serial killer who has made the city metro(subway) into his favorite hunting ground. Excessive gore. A must watch for those who can handle the blood and body parts.

Hostel: 2005: A couple of American backpackers are lured to an obscure town in Czechkoslavakia where the women are pretty and ready for sex. What they did not bargain for was the dark secret of the town where human beings are..............Oh yes, this is a Quentin Tarantino flick. Massive gore

Wrong Turn 2 Dead End: 2008. A group of participants in a reality TV survivor show while on shoot in the mountains of West Virginia face the terrifying reality of the inbreeding deformed mountain people who love fried human kidneys for breakfast. Super gore.

Saw V:2008: The saga of John Kramer, the famous serial killer from the earlier Saws, continues even after the killers death. Who has taken the mantle of Kramer? See the movie to find out. Medium gore.

There are more like Hostel 2, The Eye, Turistas etc. More in the next post:38:

the movie "ring" which aashaka mentioned is just a remake of the original Japanese movie entitled "the ringu" which is lot scary and spooky....and i would suggest you people to watch "Gin gwai [The Eye]" which was copied in bollywood known as "nina" which was no match to the original...the movie grudge was copied from the Japanese horror movie "ju-on"....if you want real horror movies where there are less zombies, mutants and only spirits then go for Japanese horror movies...with subtitles offcourse

Honestly- americans are only into remakes now. Check out thai horror called shutter and alone. Korean horror title the red shoes. Japanese version of the eye. Audition is also really scary movie. There's also the Japanese version of the eye, grudge, ring and one more called a tale of 2 sisters which is also remade by the americans :P. You get english subs pretty easily. American classics are scarier than the new american ones like the invasion of the body snatchers (not sure about the 1950s version but the 1970s version is really good- much better than the invasion), amityville horror (there are 9 titles in amityville horror- its the first classic and the new one). Rec is a spanish flick and the american remake version of it is quarantine. I havent seen quarantine despite being heavily poverised by reviewers and movie buff online- but rec is simply fantastic. Cloverfield camera view lovers will love REC for sure.

Gore is not for everyone. This thread was never intended for wimps who get sick by watching a severed head. So, I would request all such wimps not to comment here. This is meant only for those who can watch someone's stomach being torn and intestines spilling out. There is an audience for this kind of movies and hence are being made. Call me sick or whatever, but I really like seeing someone being chopped like a steak.

Why don't you enlighten us by giving the exact definition of horror? As far as I could understand, your idea of horror is to see something like a girl being possessed by the devil in "The Exorcist". And yes, the girl starts making horrible gestures, mouthing obscenities and puking everywhere. Well if this is your idea of horror, I'm sorry to say that I don't subscribe to this at all. I would rather prefer seeing someone being stuck up with a bamboo pole from ass to mouth as in "Cannibal Holocaust" Sick ! Eh?

^^^your defination is for thriller not for horror........horror means create a fear of that which you cant see but only feels.........

BTW i also like gore movies.......i have a collection of all the great gore movies.......and a 5 parts educational series(medical) also which contains chopping of all the body parts in details............just do the google Anatomy for Begineers.......

Got your point man. It is just that I don't like people dismissing those persons who like gore movies as sickos. And regarding the anatomy thing, have you seen Saw 5 where there is a post mortem of John Kramer. They rip his scalp and get into the brain. This was my first dekko of a post mortem and I found it to be cool.

Did not call u sicko buddy. I did not say a word against u.

What i meant is that all gore is not horror. The feeling of "FEAR" needs to be created. I dont think that can be done with any amt of blood and stuff........

i guess sci_fic and horror are mixed up these days same old story ....people die and become mutants going around eating people....is that horror?...na i dont think so....real horror movie would be the classic theories which our elders tell us(or refrain) where there are 'ghost',souls of dead people which makes there presence felt by various creepy ways... 'spirits' which cannot be seen by everyone but can be felt by there 'ora' around you....giving chills to your spine

the idea of horror should be to scare you...not to make you puke..gore movies....sorry they dont scare me.

Well I wanna put some other movie as well since one of Ur favorite movie is in my all time classic list Ring -1
Ring -2 is another brilliant movie but comes second to when it comes to earlier part.
In my opinion Grudge-1 & 2 are also brilliant scary movie series and is out and out horror flicks so if U'ven't watched it go right ahead and see them and I'm sure U won't get disappointed at all it's my claim aur han in dono movie me Ring wali story nahi milegi that is why I stressed out and out horror flicks!unk:

I had my time when i was obsessed with J-Horror movies. But i guess you see one and you seen em all is the case here. The one horror id recommend is "braindead" by peter jackson of the lord of the rings fame.
