    List of winners at the BAFTA 2009

    "Slumdog Millionaire" swept Britain's BAFTA film awards on Sunday winning best film, director and five other categories

    After becoming the first Indian to win the Golden Globe and getting a triple Oscar nomination in two categories for the same movie, Rahman, 43, is the first Indian musician to win the BAFTA award.

    Apart from Rahman, Resul Pookutty was the other Indian to win a BAFTA award for best sound editing for “Slumdog Millionaire”

    Rahman's composition 'Jai Ho' for British director Danny Boyle's “Slumdog Millionaire”, earned him the Critics Choice Award for Best Composer in 2008 and the Golden Globe in the category of Best Original Score.

    The winners of the 2009 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) held in London on Sunday are as follows:

    Best Film: Slumdog Millionaire

    Leading Actor: Mickey Rourke -- The Wrestler

    Leading Actress: Kate Winslet -- The Reader

    Director: Slumdog Millionaire -- Danny Boyle

    Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger -- The Dark Knight

    The Carl Foreman Award for special achievement by a British director, writer or producer for their first feature film: Steve McQueen, director/writer -- Hunger

    Academy Fellowship: Terry Gilliam

    oooh no....i thght BAFTA awards were supposed to b today......when were they....!!! ny idea when is the repeat telecast?

    n congratulations to Rehman....n all the winners n specially to Crew of Slumdog....

    I tried tuning to all channels but couldn't find any channel showing these awards live. Star Movies was showing the live telecast of Grammy Awards. Zakir Hussian won a Grammy award... :clap:

    God knows what's the fuss over "Jai Ho". Maybe it sounded exotic to the Goras as the slums in the movie did. "Jai Ho" is a mediocre song to say the least and certainly does'nt deserve a BAFTA or Academy. Rehman is clever...he is the quintessential snake charmer, charming the crap out of the Westerners.

    i dont know why all are concerend only about the songs ... its not the songs for which ar rahman got the award ... its for the background score of the movie ...
