For me, Arnold will always be THE terminator. No one can take his place.

Hmm. Not a bad movie - better than the previous one. And they did have Arnie (digital created) for 2-3 minutes.

But I would have liked the movie to end with how Kyle Reese is sent back to the past to save Sarrah Connor.

I would have give 3.5 stars, but since that is not an option, I give it a 4.

And yes. Keep the T1/T2 movies aside and watch this movie for its own worth.

Well plot was good but response to this film is not good.It has got twice the approvalrating of Transformers2 from critics. I think main problem is direction. And also they given the series an inconclusive ending.

what a waste. here's what i say to myself. it all ended after T2. there was no T3 orT4. cameron would agree with me and so would other rabid terminator fans.

    Yeah. That's why T3 & T4 have inconclusive ending.

for some reason, everything about this forth installment reminded me of "resident evil" - a movie which i dearly dislike.

major catastrophe wipes out majority of the human population, hell on earth, survivors form a resistance blah blah. cult resident fans love this type of a scenario but i never did cause either they failed to create such an authentic looking world or it wasn't convincing enough. hence i think, cameron only shot the future in T1 and T2 on the battleground scenes. anything more would have turned out to be a risk.

the alternative ending in T2 shows an elderly sarah conner with a grand-child and john conner as a congressman that meant to indicate an end to the terminator franchise though the theatrical release ended with sarah conner commenting about "uncertainty" over a moving highway to leave the audience speculating. clearly cameron had no wish to continue the franchise cause there was no more room for an original plot in the present world. if you look back for a while, then you'll see that T2 was nothing more than a "re-fabricated" remake version of T1. Even the chase scenes were copied.

i don't know any directors who have received acclaim for creating an authentic future immediate after a global holocaust. the wachawski brothers are an exception though. "the matrix" achieved what it wanted regardless of it's OTT but amazingly fuŁking original plot.
