    Thumbs up Avatar 3d

I enjoyed this movie. Its a supereb movie with great story, graphics & animation. Animation is at its best, especially those involving the alien forests.
The basic point of the story is seen when the human avatar connects to the nature & he says"...humans have destroyed their mother & will do the same here.".
This movie again gives a reminder of human potential for greed & destruction along with the few clean souls who fight for the right of preservation.
I hope u guys watched & enjoyed this movie.

    Saw Avatar (3D) yesterday.

Basically the story is about the human race trying to displace a race known as Na'vi from their home base to extract and mine a unique mineral that sells for millions per kilo in the market. To that effect, the humans are willing to, first negotiate a new settlement with the alien race, but ultimately use brute force if necessary. So they use an advanced form DNA/genome techniques to fill the bodies of two Na'vi species with their own people, send them to the tribe and convince them to leave. They have three months to do this.

But Jack Sully (Sam Worthington) engineered as one the human-Na'vi starts having second doubts. He sees that the Na'vi are a peaceful race completely in harmony with the nature. They have unique customs. They can bond with the other animal species. And the trees that they live in not only provide them a home, they are inter connected and provide a network to connect to their ancestors. He sees much wrong in the human plan of resettlement and destruction of the Na'vi home. To top it all, he falls in love with the Na'vi princess.

The rest of the film is about the fight between humans (armed with awesome and brutal weapons) and the Na'vi with their bows and arrows.

The film has amazing CGI effects and sound. The Pandora planet is breath taking.

However, I will not give the movie a 5-star rating that everybody is so generously piling on. As I said in another post, a movie is all about telling a story. The script and background must be very powerful and captivating. Sound and light effects, including CGI, can take the movie to the next level, but only when the foundation, i.e., story is enthralling.

No doubt that Avatar has probably the best photography, CGI and 3D effects seen till date. But 70% of CGI ultimately makes you feel that you are in a computer game rather than a movie.

To top it all, the movie costs Rs. 300 for the ticket and Rs. 50 as a service charge for the 3D specs. The movie is fairly long (2.5 hours) and the special 3D specs wears down the eyes.

Verdict: Save your money and wait for the DVD release.

Yes. I am pretty sure about that. In fact I am confident. I have seen 3D Blu-Ray and DVD releases of a few movies at Fry's and Best Buy.

A 3D Blu-Ray movie that immediately comes to mind is Monsters vs. Aliens.

IMAX 3D Cinema is claimed to provide highest 3D quality. Other Cinema should compete to provide good quality in 3D this will help customers to choose in a market of competitive pricing.

so are the cinemas in India giving them to the ones who watch Avatar 3D?

And is it true that you can watch either the 3D version or the normal film?

Cinemas showing the 3D version distribute these special glasses (at a cost). You need the glasses to watch this verson. Without the glasses, you may see out of focus and blurry images.

Avatar is also available in 2D (mostly in Hindi and other local languages).

It is good to watch the 3D version with 3D glasses in theatre, after years there is a 3D movie out to derive entire viewing pleasure.

I wouldn't call it hyped besides it was the first part according to me sequels get hyped. This was a good movie from start till end as I did not notice time passing-by.

Default Avatar 3D (re-release): And people are being fooled again ...

After some fanfare, Avatar 3D is back in the cinemas - with an extended cut with never seen footage.

This makes me laugh. Of course, it is "never seen footage". How can it be otherwise? And what does one get? Some additional 9 minutes - most of it really additional "necking" between Jack Sully and Netriyi and a hunt of some unique species.

Will you notice these additional footage? My guess is unlikely.

My opinion of the film remains as before.

Plus: Great photopgraphy, special effects, gizmos, etc.
    Minus: Absolutely no substance
    Overall: ** (or maybe ***)

Afterthought: Spend your money in a nice restaurant.

I think this is a movie which can't be matched by any 3d movie. I haven't watched any movie like this.
