Rep Power: 12 | I would like some good suggestions on which lcd tv to buy. I am not looking to spend more then Rs40000 or may be 45k max.. I am not fussed about the brand. It would be great if its full hd but even if its something which would do justice to the tats sky or big tv dth quality then I am alright with it. But a full hd would be a huge plus if its possible in this budget. |

| Platinum Member | You may not be able to get a full HD LCD (1080p) TV in that budget but HD-Ready (720p) may be available. LG has some good models in the 'X-Canvas' series. A 37" TV may be available in that budget. Please note the following: a) A 37" widescreen TV may appear to be big but it is 16:9 format. b) In 16:9 format the normal TV picture appears stretched and hence people/objects look fatter c) If you adjust the screen to 4:3 mode, you will get black bars on the side. Picture will be good to watch but effective usage area is more like a 25" TV. d) Full HD will cost you 65K at the minimum but it is a price worth paying because you will get 40" TV and it will be future proof for at least 7-8 years. Hence, my advice is to go for the full HD model only. If you cannot stretch the budget right now, please wait. Price may drop in couple of months by anouther 5-8K (just six months ago, 40" full HD TV was 80K). Also you will get a much better value for money.

| Is LCD better than plasma interms of quality , life etc or is it being considered for the sake of cost ? |

| Platinum Member | For watching movies, plasma is better because plasma gives a much higher contrast ratio. An LCD cannot come even close to the blacks offered by Plasma (or even CRT). LCD looks better for normal TV and it is a newer technology. We have an article here: http://www.indiabroadband.net/home-a...ional-crt.html (The TV debate - LCD vs Plasma vs Traditional CRT) |

Rep Power: 12 | 37" would be a bit too big coz I need it for a small sitting area and already have a bigger lcd so was looking for a smaller may be a 32" or even 28" will do... or even a 26inch will do if its better value for money.. Sorry I should have mentioned about the size in the first post. I just came across this : LCD TV, Plasma TV,Colour Television, Audio Video,Computer Products,Mobile Phone,Refrigerator, Washing Machine,Vacuum Cleaner,Microwave Oven,Air Conditioner, CAC Products by LG Electronics India Is this a good deal and would normal tv show up stretched on this one as well? The price matches my budget as well Last edited by Admin; 01-17-09 at 01:11 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| Platinum Member | This TV is indeed full HD (1080p). No catch. Good news there. Since all LCD TVs are 16:9 widescreen, the normal TV picture (4:3 format) will appear stretched. That is the no so good news. |
