In these days of All-In-One printers, why would one wish to have an independent scanner? The answer is pretty simple.
The scanner has a standard A4 bed and can scan/copy/email/PDF your documents, photographs, or just about anything. The Auto Scan Mode automatically detects the type of original – document or photo – then selects the appropriate settings and scans and saves in one click.
- The Canon LiDE 100 scanner is ultra slim.
- It connects via USB 2.0 and draws power from USB - no expernal power required.
- It is lightweight and can easily fit in you shoulder laptop bag.
- All the above feature make it extremely portable.
A typical problem with scanner in AIO printers (like the HP6200 I have at home) is that when you try to scan thick document (e.g. passport), the lid leaves a lot of gap for ambient light to sneak it. This causes the scan to have dark pages. However the 'Z' shaped lid design of this scanner allows documents of some thickness to be scanned without such issues.
At Rs. 3,300/-, the scanner is not very cheap but not expensive either.
If you want a pure scanner, look no further.
One thing was not clear from the website is, whether this scanner is able to scan film negatives. Some good scanners have a special attachment in the lid that allows negatives to be placed securely and scanned resulting in the opposite, i.e., a positive.
