I just purchased the player yesterday. When I return back to India, I will have to purchase a 1080p TV soon. Check my reply to your post in #10.

he has a 720p projector, so that would be enough as most of the bluray movies are 720p and a few are 1080p. Correct me if i m wrong.

I am not on holiday - but for work.

Yes. I have a 720p projector. But all the four titles purchased are 1080p. I do not think that any Blu Ray title is 720p.

i just can't w8 for the screen shots , please do a review on it. If possible, compare the quality of same movies, ie example lord of the rings in DVD Vs Bluray.

also, y dont you buy a bluray ROM for PC, its some $60-70 only. Would it be possible for you to get one for me ??

Watching on the hotel's CRT TV did not make any difference and I EXPECTED THAT.

    Here are some facts:
    1. Only the HDMI cable can deliver the 1080p performance on a compatible display device, viz., must have a TV or projector that is capable of rendering 1080p. HDMI cable can give output as 480i/p, 720i/p, 1080i/p.
    2. The component video cable (YPbPr) can deliver 480i/p, 720i/p, 1080i.
    3. The composite RCA cable (Y-W-R) can deliver 480i or 480p only.
    4. The difference between 1080i (interlaced) and 1080p (progressive) is that the 'i' picture will have more flicker.
    5. HDMI is digital whereas component/composite is analogue. PAL/SECAM/NTSC is irrelevant in HDMI.
    6. HDMI and Composite carry audio+video whereas Component is video only.

Thanks for sharing. I also found HDMI is good for High Definition audio and video transmission.

    Default More pics

I am finally home. I am posting pics of the movie "The Rock".

    Note:
    1. The pictures have been taken by a digital camera of a reflected projection. So this is a camera print.
    2. I projected the movie on a screen and pause the frame.
    3. The pic was taken without tripod; so there is possibility of some blur.
    4. The HD pictures are NOT true HD; rather they are 720p.
