Default Apple TV 160GB
The Apple TV which is 160GB has been lowered down in price to USD 229. At first there was also the 40GB Apple TV which the company has stopped.
The Apple TV is available through the Apple Store and there are more new updated models to come in a few months too!

The updated and new models will may also provide DVR services to the customer which will be a plus point.

And before the festive season there will be something new to look forward just to boost the sales.

I don't think Apple TV is an option for India. But I may be wrong.

Apple TV is a service from iTunes and Quicktime. It lets you rent a movie online. But this facility is available to residents only. For example, if you buy Apple TV STB in US, you need to have a US address, Credit Card, etc. It needs an iTunes Store account.

Edit: Apple TV works on the principle of streaming movies. This will come from your Broadband connection. So unless you have a minimum of 1 mbps BB unlimited BB connection, DUH!
