Thread: Rebuilding battery packs

Hi,

My cordless powerdrill is without juice, the batteries won't recharge.
As the tool isn't sold here in India, I wonder, do we have an address where they can replace the NiCd cells in Delhi area ?

option 1 :
batteries of same size, can be purchased from electronic/computer dealers and a fresh pack made. ( soldering them in series requires technician's help ) cost approx Rs 600 labour extra.
Usually 6 V required. 5 required. 5 x 1.2V
option 2 :.
If you don't need portability, can be modified to work directly from the Mains with a AC~ to 6V D.C = 2amps to 3 amps
adapter. may cost about Rs 500 depends on current rating.
Option 3:
or a Direct connection from
a 6V 3A or 5 Amps motor cycle heavy duty battery.!

What is the make /model of the power drill ?
I have Ryobi 6.0V ModelHP62 light duty
Chinese make. Bought 6 years back for $ 5 or $10.
( condemned !)

Thanks, I've DeWalt, and it's 9.6 Volt. Would prefer to have NiMiH batteries or even Lithum-Ion. Seems that that NiCad just pass the 3 year mark.

Can you pass me a shop name/address/phone that has the batteries and can do the welding/soldering of the batteries ?

size of batteries is important to fit inside the drill compartment. ( also current rating )
You will need 8 cells and ref number required.
