    Default Suggest a DSLR

    hi guys,
my dad's birthday is on the 4th of Feb and i wanted to give him something special. He has been working for more than 30 years now and not always had it easy...he has sacrificed a lot for us. He used to be passionate about photography when he was in his 20s, so this year i wanted to gift him a DSLR. I am looking for a basic one, for beginners. My budget is Rs 35,000. I know its pretty less but that is all i got. I would like it if you guys can suggest the exact model number and it would be awesome if you can provide me with the link.

I am also planning for DSLR, the budget is not set yet but ,most probably would go for a cheap one first, just to experiment.

I have a 120SX from canon , really love the performance.

So now I want to step up and check out a DSLR.

I came across a few on the net, which are as follows:
    -------------------

    • Nikon D3000
      • Kit With AF-S DX 18-55mm VR f/3.5-5.6G
      MRP Rs. 30,950/-
      • Nikon D3000 Body Only
      MRP Rs. 24,950/-
    http://www.nikon.co.in/productitem.php?pid=1330-ae86b1ea79
    • EOS 1000D

      • Kit WITH -EFS-18-55mm
    MRP Rs 25,295/-

    http://www.canon.co.in/p/EN/112-Digital-Cameras/189-EOS/745-EOS-1000D-Kit-EFS-18-55/
But I could not understand what AFS and EFS stand for, actually I could not understand the following either.
Can anybody help me out ?
kit AF-S DX 18-55mm VR f/3.5-5.6G for Nikon
    kit EFS-18-55mm for canon

    =======================
the following models are similar to the canon 1000D but a bit costlier
    EOS 450D ---------------------32,995.00
    EOS 450D Kit (EF-S 18-55) -----35,995.00

Well, i did not buy the DSLR as we had an SLR and my dad wanted to play with that a little bit more (getting a scanner for negatives soon) so we dont need to get the prints anyways.

The prices you have quoted are pretty high, i will ask my dad about your queries as i dont know much myself

I have quoted only the prices mentioned on the site, no idea about the street price.
