    Default Washing Machine

    Hi frnds

I need to buy a fully automatic washing machine.
    I have few questions.

    1. Should i go for Fully automatic or semi-automatic ?
    2. Front loaded or Top Loaded.
    3. Capacity : We are a family of 4 Adults, So how much is the minimum capacity i should be looking for ? Occasionally, We will need to wash our old village style thick bed sheets.
    4. Which brand ? I am thinking of samsung.

Put in your views as this is the 1st time i am buying the machine.

a fully automatic machine requires clean power and continuous water supply.
So if any of the two are problematic in your area, go for semi-automatic.

A capacity of 5.5-6.5 KG should be adequate.

Samsung is a new entrant in washing machine so little feedback available.

You can go for Fully Automatic which will give you peace of mind, if water or electricity goes it will start from where it stopped on the resumption of the same.

It is said that in front loading we get more wash quality than top loading but i didn't see any difference, better go for top loading as in between wash cycle you can stop and check the condition of your cloths and if you want can do some hand work like cleaning shirt neck or cuffs.

    LG is a good brand.

thanks guys..however when i googled it says, that Front loaded gives a much better wash + low electricity usage.

At my location there are no issues of water or electricity. however front loaded ones costs around 30K :|

I think that you should go with a fully automatic. You live in Dombivali and I am assuming that you do not have a serious water problem. Also semi-automatics is a lot of hassle - they are mostly twin tubs and one has to shove the garments from the washer to the spinner.

Now comes the question of front vs. top. So let me take a stab.

Front loaders are rugged in design. Their body is metal. That is an advantage as well as disadvantage - body could rust. The washing capability is slightly superior. Also, many front loader come with the heating option which could be a plus for the stubborn whites. A front loader will consume more water than the top loader - for the machine of the same spec.

On a top loader, it is easy to open the top to put in the forgotten garment (happens more often than not). But in a front loader, once the cycle is started, the door is locked and if the chamber is now full of water, it is not possible to switch off, wait for 3 minute to have the door release click in and put in the forgotten garment.

Washing Powder: WP for Front loader washing machine is more expensive and difficult to find. My wife or I have often to travel to a bigger super market to find the Henko Green washing powder (low sud) meant for the front loaders. On the contrary, the top-loader w/p is available more easily.

I am owner of two front laoaders - IFB and Samsung. I am slightly inclined towards the top loaders.

Samsung is good. So are LG, IFB, Godrej and Whirlpool.

For front loaders, I will recommend Seimens or IFB.

    Front Loading:

    1. Seimens
    2. IFB

    Top Loading:

    1. LG or Samsung
    2. Whirlpool

    Look for the following features:

    1. Stainless Steel drum
    2. High speed spinning
    3. Auto restart (restart from where left off in case of power failure)
    4. Easy on electricity and water (as much as possible)
    5. Wash load capacity - no need to go beyond 7 kg - normally 5~6 kg is enough.
    6. After sales services in your area (talk to people)

For front loader IFB has most market share and i too have one but do look out for the front loader from LG which has got the Direct Drive Motor system and after sales service from LG is always good.
