    Default home theater help

i have an onkyo hts-680 htib. i'm planning on upgrading, i'm considering b & w's mt-30s and onkyo hts-9100thx. if i buy the b & w's can i connect it to my existing onkyo receiver, the receiver has 100w x 6 into 8 ohms, it has spring clips, what kind of wire should i use. pv1 sub has an input impedance of 100kw, will this pose a problem?

if you know any other speakers i should consider, please tell me. it must have a frequency response of 20hz-20khz(+/- 3db)

    1. Most speakers are designed to work with a wide variety of AV recievers. So your B&W speakers should work. I have not gone into detailed specs but ensure than speaker max power handling capacity is higher than the receiver's power output (RMS). Also the speaker impedence should match the receiver's output im[pedence - usually this is 8 Ohms. So when your Onkyo receiver is rated at 100W RMS per channel, your speaker should be rated at 110 W at the minimum to be safe.

    2. For speaker wires, go for any decent quality. The AV shop will advise you. No need to buy very high quality expensive cable. Ensure that speaker cables are separated from the normal electrical wiring or telephone wires at home (by a distance of at least 6 cm).

    3. The sub connects to the pre-amp LFE out of the reciever. The impendence should match.
