    Default Suggest a washing machine

    hi, I need a fully automatic washing machine. My knowledge is very limited in this field. I not sure about front load or top load. Do we really need a fully automatic one ? What are the options ? My budget is maximum Rs. 15,000. I am ok even if not fully automatic (as I mentioned, I have no idea what to select). Hope you got the point. Thanks in advance

    I think you should select Videocon Washing Machines
    Washing Machines | Front Loading Washing Machine | Fully and Semi Automatic Washing Machines- Videocon India
    This may suit your needs.

    first plz ask youself few questions-
    (1)Do u have dedicated water supply?is there water scarcity in your area?
    (2) how much load shedding in your city?
    (3)r u comfortable with washing all types of clothes in a single wash?
    (4)Shall u be comfortable with machine rinse?
    machine rinse does not discard all the soap out.

    if these questions pose concern, then think twice before going for a automated one.
    best solution to go for cheaper sturdy semi automatic one,there u can do washing and drying simultaneously,and control the water usage.
    Though in full-auto, dry tap feature is there but thats a waste of time.

    1. No, water is available in plenty.

    2. Minimal or no load shedding.

    3. Means ? I don't mind putting all of them in a single stroke or if required, in different attempts.

    4. What is machine rinse ?

    Thanks. Can you suggest a good semi automatic model. I don't know much about these and got confused which one to choose. I tried the above link, but unable to select one. Also, if possible, please give a link with price list also.

    hindi word for that is "khangalana", taking soap out completely.

    seems, your answers show that u might go for Full auto.

    see if u are bachelor or bestowed with family, go gor max capacity machine.
    I recommend u videocon 6.8 kg(if more capacity is available go for that).
    multi 6800+.
    evan bachelors need more capacity for weekend laundry work.
    Cheap,sturdy, even parts are cheaper. lg,samsung parts are expensive.
    whole plastic body no rust,no shock problem.

    Videocon multie 6800

    @ Just4kix,

    Nice article. Can you suggest a good top loading washing machine with good capacity. I think semi automatic will do. Also please specify the price too.

    @meetdilip,

    Do not even think about semi-automatic.

    You should go for an automatic with 5 kg load capacity. Choose any from IFB, Godrej, LG, Samsung, etc. Depends upon your budget. I think you should get a good m/c for around 16K.

    Semi-auto has twin tubs. It is top loading only.

    The first tub is for washing and rinsing. The second tub is for spinning. You will have to remove clothes from one tub and put them in the next manually. Not worth the effort. But the price is nearly half.

    Fully automatic is like a 2 step approach to washing ;
    1. Put dirty clothes into machine.
    2. Take out washed clothes from machine.

    Semi-automatic is more cumbersome. You will have to shift clothes from 1 drum to the other.
    Although costlier i would suggest the fully automatic machine esp. the front loading machine from IFB. Its a 1 time investment. I bought mine in 1997. Since then i got replaced ;
    1. Water inlet assembly twice(2001&2008) (Rs600*2)
    2. Bearings twice(2005&2009) (Rs900*2)
    3. Rubber tubing (rats ate it)(2008) (Rs600)
    4. Steel drum due to worn-out bush. (2009) (Rs1500)
    So cost me 1200+1800+600+1500=Rs5100 over a period of 13 yrs. Now i have a 13 yr old machine but almost everything new inside except drain pump(still13 yrs old) and the electronic circuits which the IFB service engineer says he has never replaced in over 20 yrs he has been with IFB.

    biggest advantage of semi-auto I found, domestic help can use it by her own.

    I am confused by this statement. Why can't the domestic help (kaamwaali bai) not use the automatic on her own?

    domestic help in our apt,does not do laundry work in the flat, where there is full-auto.
    reason she gives-" kaun magajhmari kare, kharab-varab ho gai to..."
    if your DH efficiently uses your auto WM, then u are damn lucky to have smart minded maid or u must be very good at erudition (to teach her).

    I just asked that's all. In my home, our domestic help just does the house cleaning and utensils washing. Actually we never asked her. So we can't claim to be lucky or having educated her.

    If one has a fully automatic WM then you can do the washing yourself. You dont need a domestic help for it. Like i posted b4 you put the dirty clothes in, set the programme, run the WM, & take out the washed dry clothes.

    Btw im also using IFB dishwasher too.

    @meetdilip
    Go for fully autmotic ones, & one more thing, if you can avail the front load washing machines then you can go for that, you can even dry your clothes upto 80-90% in that. though front load washing machines are costlier than top load. i am using samsung front load, so i can tell you that its really a good machine & their after sales service. you can try videocn & lg too.
    also make sure that you use correct washing powder for the machines there are different washing powders for front load, top load & "haat ki safai" :P

    are available in the price Range Rs 10000 to Rs 12000/=

    He means built in water heater for a hot water wash not the hot air dryer. None of the top loading machines come with a hot air dryer in India as far as I know.
