Are you looking for a component based (separates) system, i.e., separate AV receiver, speakers, etc.?

Or, are you looking for an all-in one system?

Secondly, you have given preference to music. So why do you wish to buy a 5.1 system? As you must be aware, pure music is stereo only and 5.1 system will not make any difference. But I assume that you wish to be compatible with movie/HT also.

If you are looking for a separates system, I would advise to buy Denon-1910 or Denon-2310 AVR and matching 5.1 speakers from Paradigm. You should be able to make this purchase within Rs. 100,000.

If you are looking for an all in one (as a purist, I won't recommend this), you can buy HT packages from as low as 18K (Sony, LG, Samsung) to Rs. 65,000 (Onkyo).

You can refer to my HT articles, if you have not already done so:

    Default 5.1 speaker system

    Hi,
Everyone is talking abut 18 K to 100,000 Rs. Speaker system. But I want to tell you that in less than 12K you can make yourself happy with good sound. I would not say very great sound speaker system but I like my Jack Martin Speakers. In December, 2007 I bought Jack Martin Speaker of Rs. 3500 from Bangalore IT market. It has analog input sound. So no SPDIF or HDMI or coaxial input support, only RCA cable support. It is 5.1 channel and has 120 RMS sound. I can connect to my Onida DVD player as well as computer also. but my DVD player is compatible for 5.1 channel output so it gives pure 5.1 channel output. My DVD players cost 2990 in 2007. My speaker system can convert 2.1 channel audio sound to 5.1 channel (fictious sound) with a press of one button only. When I played the Matrix (Part 2) movie and famous fighting scene with Agent Smith, My speakers has given rock solid theatre sound with very good Bass sound. Even when you play a original audio CD you will hear crystal clear sound. So based on my experience I would recommend to use latest Jack Martin 5.1 speaker with 500 RMS sound and will cost you around Rs. 8000. And you can buy LG Rs. 5000 Blue ray player available in Croma or can buy any DVD player with Mic,5.1 channel sound,HDMI, USB pen drive, Microsd card facility.
And if you want one system for DVD and speakers and your budget is 18K, Then Buy Sony Home theatre sytem. It is 5.1 Channel, HDMI facility, 1000 RMS system.

    Thank you
