With reference to the subject, i'd like to know which one saves significant power?

Well there is no straight forward and simple answer to that question !! It all depends on how you are planning to use !

In PC you have a min of 450+Watts PSU and to get the Audio you need to use the Multimedia Speaker of some sort which will consume more power !

Where as in the dedicated Stereo system you have all in one and will consume same as the PC without speakers (if you choose to go the simple way that is) or a little more !

So its all up to you take a call, I'd say rather then power consumption you should look at the overall convenience of use, ease of use here should be the priority if this were to be used in home with multiple users ! In a typical Av system you switch on pop the disc in and thats it where as in a PC boot,logon,open the player etc etc etc etc ,which may be a dampener to some !!

If you elaborate on the some of the above mentioned points then perhaps one can give more precise advice !
