Hi,

For a 1500W power consuming air conditioner, what area of cross section of wire would you suggest, and also the rating of ELCB/MCB?

I have seen at many places for a 1TR A/c 25Amps of MCB is fixed!! What is the use?
lets see it this way, P=V x I
here P=1500W
V=230V
So the current drawn should be 6.5 Amps.
Considering the starting current for the compressor motor, 12Amp MCB would do fine. Or is there anything else which needs to be considered. Also what class of MCB shall we go for, A or B? I heard that for medium duty applications class B is suggested.
Anyone with good knowledge of electrical installations????
