    Default BOSE Reviews

    Hi guys,

I owe a QC3 noise cancellation headphones from BOSE, which is awesome, and now Im planning to buy a good set of speakers for my desktop. I was planning to purchase the Companion 3, but this is not in market anymore, insted they have the companion 20 without the acoustimass module, costs around 14K. Has anyone listned to this speaker? Else, I'll have to go with the Companion 5, which comes with the acousimas module. Is anyone using any of these system? The performance ofcourse would be impressive... but any cons??

    Regards
    Nevin.

BOSE is the art of marketing and makes you believe that you are buying the world's best brand. Nothing can be more further than the truth. Google "Bose Quality World's Best" and other search words and you will get tons of blogs.

    Trust me.

Dunno, art of marketing and all, i have 15 years old Bose speakers and they are still going strong, working great without any issues. So Bose is pretty good as far as their build quality is.

    Hi Just4kix.

Thanks for the quick response and ofcourse I'm aware of the so called "bose haters" blogs in the internet. Pesonally I wouldnt mind that since I experieced the sound in the Bose store yesterday in delhi!! The sound from those tiny speakers made me think that I was in PVR! And to my amazement, the Companion20, which doesnt have an acoustimass module really sounded as if it has one! Anyway the guy there suggested me to go ahead with the Companion5 if I'm keen on the base. (which is not so good in their wave system). Personally, I owe another bose product, and I've never faced an issue till now. (I hope Dushie is sharing his good experience as well).
! Dushie, which speakers are you haviing?

Bose is overpriced for the quality they offer. If you are keen and liked them, you can go ahead. But do read my article Home Theatre Blues - Part 3: The right speaker system and then take an informed judgment.

BTW, I am no Bose hater or lover and I own Bose Accoustimass AM-10 speaker system. I have had my reasons for buying them in 1999 (space being the main constraint). And they are still going strong, sound good, etc. But I listen to Cinema sound mainly. When I put on music, Bose are woefully short of performance - the midrange is quite bad.

Even for cinema, the Bose bass module (it is not a sub-woofer) cuts off all frequencies below 180 Hz. And thus the "oomph" is missing.

Secondly, Bose have a very well designed accoustically controlled and dampened listening room where you will get that "extra" feeling. When you put it in home, things are unfortunately different.

For the price of Bose, you can get a much better equivalent speaker system. Go and listen to Wharfedale Diamond 9.2 series for instance. And then tell me whether you really felt like sitting in PVR.

Which amp are you using, and what RMS and impedance does it deliver?
    Is ONKYO good?
