    Default Buying from Singapore

I'm thinking of buying an LED TV from Singapore. I myself won't be going there but a friend who is going for holidays will bring it for me.

I'd like to know if there are others who have bought TVs / Laptops this way. My friend said you can only buy a 32 inch LED, not larger than that, but I think it has to do with the Rs. 25,000 limit, since a Samsung LED TV in India costs about 43-44K (which in Singapore costs 22K), so larger than 32 inches would exceed the limit.

Suppose I also order a laptop (along with the TV), will my friend be able to carry it with him along with the TV in the baggage?

And is there any chance of the airport people in India stealing the item? Another poster here has said this about laptops:

I have seen a lot of people carrying TVs in orignal packaging at Delhi airport and even the ones with picture tubes back in the days so yeh people do bring them but I have no idea how the duty works out with such items.

You can buy a larger TV also. Even up to 40". Beyond 40", airlines do not accept it in the checked-in baggage.

My friend brought a 40" TV from Singapore (some BX series) a year ago.

Suppose the person buys an LCD TV for 22K, and also a laptop and carries the laptop in the cabin baggage, will he have to pay duty for the laptop or can he say that he didn't buy it in Singapore, he already had it with him?

One laptop is free if it is not packed in carton box ( as TV in original packing itself will be under scrutiny as local MRP well above above Rs 20K allowance that too if the person is not travelling to Singapore too often)
If he carries the laptop in laptop bag can manage it but not in orignal carton. But what about the person doing the journey and not buying anything for him/family?
Burma bazar sells Sony Bravia Tv's wellbelow local MRP. (any way singapore purchased TV will not get free local service)
