    Default great 3D TV experience

I was in two minds regarding the features i need for my 3D TV. Now i know what is important for a great 3D TV experience. Wide viewing angles and battrey less 3D glasses are my priorities now.

Good to see some informative discussions online. I was confused regarding buying a new 3D TV. After reading your article, i am pretty sure i will buy a FPR and IPS enabled 3D TV.

3D TVs are of two types based on technology.

    a) The first category and the more prevelent one is the "Active Shutter 3D". In this technology, the TV shows alternate frames rapidly. The 3D glasses use active shutter to blank the view to each eye simultaneously. The glasses have a circuit inside and are powered by a rechargeble button cell and that makes them bulky, heavy and costly. The field of 3D vision range is also limited (although tech progress is making this better every day).

    b) Of late LG has introduced the passive 3D technology. This is more or less like the 3D technology in the cinema. The glasses do not have any circuits and require no power; hence they are cheap and light. The 3D vision range is larger than the former.

Both have pros and cons and the internet tech websites will yield plenty of comparision results. Being a person who wears long distance vision glasses, I am not a fan of 3D. The whole experience is very tiring to the eyes but if I was to select something, I would prefer the passive 3D technology.

I thought of buying a 3D TV, but some say that 3D viewing creates stress on eyes. Is it really true?

No, The benefits of FPR and IPS technology are simply great! The IPS feature offers flicker free 3D viewing from varied angles. flickers.

On the contrary, watching 3D is a personalized experience - some find no strain at all but 90% of the people suffer from headaches after prolonged viewing. IPS and other such features are nothing to do with 3D TV and available in plain 2D LCD panels as well.

What is funkcion? I assume you mean function.

The question you asked is very generic and we cannot answer. There are three main types of flat panel TV technologies today:

    a) Plasma
    b) LCD
    b) LCD with backlit or edgelit LED

There are pro and cons of all three. You must make a choice between technology first. 3D is something that you should not focus much upon. At this moment, there is not much 3D content unless you have a 3D blu-ray player and/or 3D media player.

Then there is a question of budget.

Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, etc. are all good manufacturers. You should read reviews before you shortlist.

And after you have shortlisted, then you can ask like: "I have selected these three models. Which is the best?".
