Default Suggest a Fully Automatic Top Loading Whirlpool Washing Machine.

Hi everyone, My father has given me the task to find out the model of a washing machine. He prefers Whirlpool so if any of the member of this forum is using one, please suggest me the model. Budget 20K.
What does powerful motor specification tells about the machine?

I have read the post related to this topic and just want to be sure about my choice.
    I have selected these 2:

    a)
    1-2-3 650s
    6.5 Kg

    b)
    PRO 720 S
    7.2 Kg

I usually prefer front loaders because they have water heating capability. Also, they have much higher spinning speed and hence are able to dry clothes better.

Here is a thread about my experience with Whirlpool (Whirlpool fridge). I hope this would help you make a good decision.

But they are costly and my family budget is not that high.

hey, thanks for sharing this thread and making me enlightened. Believe me it was like reading an interesting novel. Well now it wont bother me to buy a faulty whirlpool product and then get a good compensation amount Rs.7000
but being at safe side, i'm not gonna buy whirlpool now as the dealer was also giving me the hint of their poor service. So, now if someone wants to suggest some other brand then he is most welcome. I think i'd go for IFB.

Yes. Front loaders are generally costlier than top loaders and for a good reason. They offer more features and are robust. The typical top-loader is mostly plastic. The good top loaders all automatic, with steel drums and fuzzy logic are usually 16K+.

My IFB (2900DX) was purchased in 1993 for 18K. And it is still working. Had to replace belts twice but that is all. It is still giving good service. So I would say that after 18+ years, it was 18K well spent. You should consider the longetivity also - though I am not saying that top loaders will not last as long.

Secondly, heating is an important feature for me. The clothes get dirty in India and requires hot (warm) water wash. This feature is not available in top loaders available in India. The heating consumes extra electricity but you get cleaner clothers. But front loaders also have a lot of disadvantages:
    • As I said, use of heating will consume more electriicity.
    • Even otherwise, front loaders consume more power and water.
    • They are very heavy and need a good dry place to be installed - can't keep them in the corner of the bathroom - the metal body will rust
    • They require low sud washing powder which is costlier and sometimes not available everywhere; top loaders will work with normal Surf also (though not advised)
*** Never argue with an idiot. ***

I earlier had a whirlpool semi-automatic for about 9 years. Replaced it with a whirlpool top-loading automatic about 3 years back. Model White Magic Deluxe Fp60. Costed me about 11 K (after adjusting exchange value of 2K for earlier one). It came with 2 year warrantee. At the advise of the engineer who came for installation, purchased an extended warrantee for 4 years (to start after 2 years original warrantee) for 2K more, so service is free for 6 years. He also asked me to attach a filter at the water intake valve, to take care of excess iron in water - costed another 1.2 K.

Had a problem with the controller board once (it fried up due to voltage fluctuation). Called customer care. Came and replaced free of cost.

Yes it does not have heating facility. But connected it to a tap in one of my bathrooms that has hot-cold mixer through the geyser. So can use hot water as required.
The engineer also told me that you can use normal detergent without any trouble, just make sure to first put it in a mug and dissolve well in water.
One major advantage of top loader is that, after you have started the machine, if you remember some left-over clothes (which most of the time you do), you can simply pick up the top and drop them in, which is not possible with front loader.
My sister had another difficulty with her IFB front loader. While operating the machine, something happened and it completely stopped working - with all clothes and water inside. She could not get it opened with all efforts and has to wait for two days till the engineer came from the ASC. You can easily imagine what happened to the clothes. She for one now strongly advises everyone against going for a front loader.

    thanks just4kix & panchabhut..
but now i think instead of getting confused between top loaders and front loaders i should decide quickly.. After all there are just two outcomes.. Good or bad.. And whatever it will be.. I'll gain experience..

@punchabhut, I am surprised that your sister's FL w/m was locked out for two days. Generally the locking mechanism releases itself after 3 minutes after power is switched off.
