Thread: Idea 3G

Has Idea 3G been launched and is it even something in the process, as i haven't heard about it. It wasn't as a big deal as MTNL made it, so not sure whats happening. Someone let me know whats right whats wrong.

As on date no pvt. operator has the approval for launching 3G service with both voice & data.
only BSNL & MTNL have launched 3G service

any idea on the launch date?

only the new Telecom Minister would have any idea

i dont know why are people so much crazy about 3g,3g,3g!!!

i think its just like another advancement in Phone industry like dialup changed into broadband....

Is Idea mobile using 3G technology? If yes then why not other mobile used 3G technology?

what is 3G exactly? it will allow us to use internet at greater speed and better performance on phone but has anyone thought on disadvantages it will have?

3G refers to 3rd generation of mobile telecommunication standards. 3G networks operate on different radio frequencies or spectrum than 2G networks (the reason for bidding for spectrum recently), and can deliver high speed packet data access, in both uplink (or simply uploading) and downlink (downloading) channels, making video calls, live tv and high quality video streaming possible. Currently the lone 3G operators BSNL and MTNL are offering speeds upto 7.2 Mbps downlink through their UMTS/HSDPA network (though it hovers around 1Mbps). Hell, there are no disadvantages except reduced standby time of your mobile

Idea 3g Launched in kerala, getting good speeds.

But there are certain coverage problems with idea. It is said idea is the no:1 service provider in kerala.
but i have seen that now vodafone has good coverage in places where idea doesn't.
Also compared to vodafone, inside buildings idea has less signal strength..

Any opinions...???
