Default Calling charges for Idea customer care

From what I have heard recently Idea mobile customers will now be charged for calling the customer care team!!
I dont know how much the cost will be or when this is affective from, or even if this is true, its just a rumour which has been heard.

    Anyone else know about this?

I am not surprised... Airtel already charges for speaking to their customer care and I am sure every other company will too... sooner or later.

I heard Airtel and Aircel are charging. Now it is Idea's turn. There are threads in the same section. Please search.

This is really bad step from these providers. Atleast customer care should be free.

I'm from Karnataka circle(Bangalore) and I was charged 50 paise for 3 minutes. Also there was this mention about calling 198 for any complaints (which i presume is toll-free).
    :-(

I suppose people will only call customer service just in emergency ever, other wise not bother!

For those who have the need to call customer service more often due to problems, will eventually switch to other providers!

I also heard this. I rarely call CC; so I cannot confirm. But I very much believe this to be true because I think (?) that I also read this in newspapers.

It might be because cellular companies are unable to bare the expenses of their customer care services so we will need to pay them for our queries and it is also having the drawback and that is if the one who is assisting is under training, the call will go on for a long time. Hope they just don't appoint new people for assistance for making more money out of it.

Only one CC number of Idea's is having calling charges(in Kerala). The rest of the nos are still free, but still it's disappointing !
