I cant wait to get this 3g service life would become so much easier. God know what took them so many years to get here and we still dont have it up and running. Developed countries have had it since year 2001-2002 most of them and some even earlier then that.
    Come on India....

Default India postpones 3G spectrum auction by two weeks

India postpones 3G spectrum auction by two weeks

India has postponed the auction of its 3G spectrum from an original date of January 16th to the 30th, following requests from potential bidders to have more time to review related documents and rules. At the same time, the deadline for applications to become a bidder has been extended from the 5th to the 15th. The auction will give domestic and foreign companies the option to acquire the 2.1GHz wireless frequency, used for HSPA-based 3G data network services.

Two days after the close of the 3G auction, India's Ministry of Communications will host another auction for the 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz bands, intended for faster mobile broadband networks such as WiMAX.

The auction is expected to be a lively one, as India's mobile market is growing at a rate of 10 million new users per month. The government further notes that bidders who win a 3G license will also be able to offer services under the 2G spectrum. Analysts believe it is this fact that will be the money-maker for winning bidders, as 3G network access is not expected to drive revenue, at least initially. The auction may also help Apple and the iPhone 3G, which is currently without its namesake feature in India.

I dont think India will be able to launch 3G services within next 6 Months. We are listening from last 1 year that government is trying to bring 3G services and will start the auctions soon. ANd everytine t gets delayed due to this filthy Ministers and Dot Officials.

In the developed contries 3 G is gone and 3.5G is available at many places. Many Handset manufactures have started to release 4G handsets. MTNL launched 3G services in december but to what use. Only in cenral delhi areas and subscriptions are available at thins moment.

Hope to see the services starting soon. Been using 3G handset from last 7 months but what use hope to see blazing fast speed on mobiles also.

Every one is waiting for 3g but the auctions keep on getting delayed . The worst part is all operators wont get spectrum so people would have to change their service providers to enjoy 3g.
