WiMax services have already been launched in India by internet service providers such as Reliance and Tata Indicom. Although the current operation mode is limited to the urban areas, greater productivity of the same can be found in sub-urban areas. Care is to taken not to confuse WiMAX with the upcoming 3G services. According to Strategy Analytics, an US based research firm India and China may become the mecca of WiMAX services by the year 2013 largely due to the presence of sub-urban localities where conventional broadband setups might not click.
