Motorola PEBL mobile phone: Motorola to launch more India specific products
World’s second largest mobile handset maker Motorola has announced that they would soon be launching more products in the Indian market. This would help them expand their product portfolio here in India.
Motorola has launched its ‘PEBL’ phone in the country, which is priced at Rs. 11000. It is the world’s first automated opening handset. India is one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world and the company has established India as its headquarter for the High Growth Markets (HGM).
Motorola, Corporate Vice-President (High Growth Market), Allen Burnes, said in a statement on their plans: “We chose India as the headquarters because of the country’s strategic importance to Motorola’s global operations and because of the highest growth rate and potential within the identified HGMs and the geographic advantage.”
They would now also be spending heavily in marketing campaigns along with expanding their distribution network. Motorola has already cornered around a 12 per cent of the Indian mobile handset market share. The company is also planning to introduce a range of mobile handsets, both CDMA and GSM, in India.
