Default Mobile Web Browser

Web browser is the software that allows the user to access and view HTML documents. Web browsers also provide graphical interface that allows the user to click buttons, icons and menu options to view and navigate Web pages. Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer are examples of Web browsers used in computers. The mobile Web browser allows you to surf the Web on your mobile phone just as you do on your computer. ThunderHawk from Bitstream, AvantGo from iAnywhere Solutions, Inc, Google Mobile from Google, nweb from Novarra, Opera Web browser from Opera are some of the mobile Web browsers available in the market.

The ThunderHawk is available in many versions including the Windows Mobile Smartphone Edition, Symbian Edition and Windows Mobile Pocket PC Edition. It provides an 800x600 virtual screen resolution on 320x240 screens enabling the user to read Web-based email, view Web pages and perform many more functions. Google Web Search enables the user to search through the billions of Web pages. It can also be used to read a news item, answer a question or find information. AvantGo has advanced features to allow the users to search the Web, send and receive email and receive travel information and go online shopping.

The Opera 8 Web browser is the latest in technology and provides unparalleled Web experience for the wide range of cell phones based on Symbian S60. It includes the unique Small-Screen Rendering (SSR) technology that reformats the Web sites to fit the width of the mobile screens. It also has four-way navigation with fast scrolling for efficient browsing on small screens. It has two modes to choose from: Quality and Speed. The Quality mode keeps more of the original site colour, design and layout and in the Speed mode, the Web page rendering is more basic but 25 per cent faster.

A number of phone models based on Symbian OS are designed for 3G networks and the various browsers are designed to take full advantage of the high-connectivity that 3G networks offer. The mobile Web browsers obviate the need to look around for a PC with Internet connection. The user can search the Internet for all the information that he needs and send and receive messages from the mobile itself, saving plenty of his valuable time.
