Google announced its entry into the market for Internet Service Providers. It's building a network of high-speed fiber in several U.S. cities reaching a total of 5,00,000 subscribers. The FTTH fiber connections to the home will have a speed of 1 Gbps at a competitive price.
The purpose of this network is experiment. The company believes that the Internet is evolving fast enough with the incumbents and more can be done. With this evidence, the company says, want to help pace the arrival of high-speed Internet to every home.
The localities where Google will invest in a fiber network will be in the U.S. and still to be defined.
Undoubtedly, this news is a genuine cold water for telcos, which increasingly distrust the voracity of Google, whose name has become gradually popular on Internet.
