    Default broadband in India

I think the future of broadband in India is very bright, I don’t know how many of you share the same view but I have reasons to believe what I said.

The reasons are many fro me to believe that future is bright.i think the prices of broadband services will be the cheapest in India as compared to the rest of the world in 10-12 years time, at least in the metros where new entries of isp’s will be dying to get a bigger share of subscribers and supported by the ip tv ad revenue for the isp’s (most ip tv services are run by isp’s themselves or in collaboration with other companies) and the end customers you and me will be in a win win situation.
Low monthly charges ultra high speeds like 100mbps or may be more.

Customer base for isp’s is on the rise ever day as PC prices have been on a dive for some time and software prices are coming down as well and after Microsofts decision not to bother those people who have pirated operating system on their pc’s (for those who don’t know this is just to discourage Linux use as Linux users are increasing day by day and open source is on the rise).Boosted with pirated softwares and lowering hardware prices and local assembling PC prices are coming down even further and its all good as far as I understand as it will increase the mighty internet penetration in India and with this continuous growth we will see a lot of positive changes as far as the future of broadband is concerned in India.

Please leave your comments on this if you have any .

Yes, the only way the broadband scene in india head is north wards in the future, there is no doubt about it. It also depends on the politician who holds the key infomation technology portfolio in our government. As, indian policians decide the fate of our nation in many cases. Be it the opening up of indian economy or even the stopping of the retail giants into india, anything and etc. When Dayanidi maran was the IT and telecom minister, there were very drastic and great improvement in broadband scene and it grew at the rate of around 200%, he even promised free broadband for all in the future, after his departure due to politics, i have not seen any improvement in it at all, except its usual growth which had been set forth by him in his tenure.

Broadband prices are not wear cheap right now in India and as i think you know everything take more thime then usual to happen in this country. So if you are expecting it to happen in next 10-12 years then let it be 15 years or more as only in this time they would be able to cover all parts of india only after which prices would start to come down.

10-12 years is a lot of time and there is no use to talk about the thing which is going to happen after such a time. Look at the present day when we are just getting 256 kbps connection for 999 rupees in India which is really very much expensive.

I see the following things happening soon in Indian Home BB scene:

    a) Speeds will head north. Just a couple of years ago, 256 kbps was almost a limit. Now plans are available with 8 mbps.
    b) Rates are bound to go south. I am expecting BSNL to be on the leading front on this.
    c) We may soon see the upload/download limits go away (probably in a couple of years) and speeds will be the lone factor for tariffs.
    d) I also forsee (as a derivative of point (c)) that number of tariff plans will be limited to something like 512 kbps, 1 mbps, 2 mbps, etc.

Just as the mobile revolution, BB revolution is all set for India.

I dont think we would need to wait for a complete decade. I think we would see this by 2010 or 2012 max..
