Gartner believes India would soon outpace China in new mobile connectivity numbers

India might be one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world but they still trail China. However, research firm Gartner believes that this won’t stay like that for long and India would soon outpace China in getting more mobile customers every month.

This could happen as soon as September this year as more and more of us here in India go mobile. The difference between the two countries is narrowing down.

Kobita Desai, principal telecoms analyst at Gartner said in a report: “India has not yet surpassed China in terms of monthly net additions, but it should happen this year. It’s quite likely to happen in September or October. This is something we’re anticipating.”

However, mobile service providers in India still are unable to provide a decent coverage in the country. The coverage here is around 30 per cent of its 1.1bn population. This is pretty disappointing compared to about 95 percent coverage in China.
