    Post Budget 2009-10

    Today 6/7/09 - Budget 2009-10....

    Well the Budget has jus started an hour back....no major announcements stilll......

    FBT abolished...alternate tax will be hiked from 10% to 15% .....

    Stock Market too has opened on negative n its already down by around 700 points atm.....

    custom duties n excise duties still are the same...... no major changes still...

    hopefully something on income tax in the second half...

    wait n watch....

    still no major changes....

    10% surcharge gone......

    incometax.....for women - 1.90 exempt.....

    totally worthless budget. only saving grace seems to be
    withdrawal of 10% surcharge in Income Tax (who paid anyway)
    abolishing of FBT
    abolishing of CTT (commodity transaction tax)
    commitment to implement GST from 1.4.2010
    interest subsidy on educational loan (details awaited)

    and then there's the populist measure of giving wheat/rice @ Rs.3.
