If you are looking to rent a credit card machine then you know that it is mostly for trade shows and promoting businesses. It is basically applicable in areas where you accept only cash cheque. I will explain the guidelines below.
First off you need to prepare and set a date which you will be using the credit card machine. You will also be required to answer some questions from the costumer care department of the rental company. It will also be asked if you will be needing it for long-term use or short-term use. Most likely the difference of long or short term will determine the price.
It also has to be decided if you will be having a merchant account or if the company will do the processing itself. The prices in this will vary as well. Having a merchant account would be the cheaper route to go. If it is possible you should try and find a place in your area that is renting the credit card machines. This would be best. You will need to make a decision on which kind of credit card machine you will need. Some of the machines accept all credit card even with the pin codes you may have to punch in. Try and negotiate with the company that the payment for renting will either be weekly or monthly.
If you do not need the credit card machine for a long period of time, you should specify that at the time of renting. If you are keeping it for a longer period of time, you may be required to sign a contract. To transact additional transactions you can choose a machine that accepts gift cards and others. You can also rent automatic credit card machines which work without plugging it in to the computer. They will indeed make your job easier.
