For e filing of Income Tax returns only different forms are specified.
As new user you have to Register.
Asking for PAN number to register ( I avoided it !!!)
If already a registered user log in and proceed.

There is no income limit specified.

If Tax was deducted under TDS ( tax deduction at Source) by your employer, obtain certificate and attach to your IT returns , specifiying other income etc. usually done only to claim refund !!!

    Para two:
For payment through Banks you should have Netbanking acct etc.

Whether it is mandatory to pay tax online?
It is mandatory for the following types of assesses to pay tax online with effect from April 1,2008.
    a) All the corporate assesses.
    b) All assesses (other than company) to whom provisions of section 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961 are applicable

    @Admin
    Thanks for the rep points.
Perhaps, users are shy of asking I.T questions in the forum.
Forum title may be Changed to INCOME TAX Rules

From this A/Y I.T returns need not be filed by salaried persons
with Annual Income less than 5 Lakhs .
will wait for clarification whether ..I.T return is to be filed , if
other income from properties/shares/dividends/Fixed deposits Interest etc are earned by Salaried persons .

I used to rush on the last day and file a NIL return, because , I made foreign trips ( Under some 8 criteria earlier).
I think , persons having a cellphone were ALSO required to file IT returns ( Old Reliance era Rs 10 to rs 12/= minute local call !)

Still PAN card from I.T, is advisable ( like a Ration Card) , whether Income tax is paid or not.

    No. "One by six" rules.
Earlier I think cellphone was also in the list as list of 8.
    Filing of Return - compulsory
    One-by-Six Scheme
If a person is enjoying any of the following item, he/she has to file his/her return.

    Occupation of a House
    Ownership of a motor car
    Expenditure on foreign travel
    Holder of credit card
Electricity payments in excess of Rs 50,000/annum
Member of a club - where the entrance fee is more than Rs 25,000/-.

    ahaha.. yes i remember now...

This policy was considered very rude.. especially for those who went on a foreign visit.

by the way, i like I.T's Action plan.. you get to know about it when you work for a revenue personnel..
