Rep Power: 3 | You know what we Indians lack in!!! we can't laugh at ourselves. A sardarji would mind if you tell them jokes about "Santa Singh 'n Banta Singh".A bihari would take it personally if a person sitting next to him cracks a joke about biharis. And this list is not exhaustive either. So the question arises what should we do. Shall we start talking like a suave politician who always makes politically correct statement. It's feasible but will it make any difference!!! Aren't we matured enough to make a difference between a joke and sarcasm? We need to learn to laugh at ourselves and in my opinion a joke without any form of mutation(s) is the best tutor. People overseas attend Russel Peter's show (mind you it's not a free show) just to laugh at themselves. When he mocks at Asians, Blacks Whites for their accent or for their unique and peculiar behavior, they enjoy it. They never complaint that the joke was targeted to their community. So if you mods delete any joke thinking that it may offend a particular community, either you underestimate us or you are trying to think on behalf of us. So I suggest you to please welcome all kinds of jokes with the hearts open and be ready to laugh and let others do the same. Last edited by nandini; 06-24-09 at 04:40 PM. |

| Platinum Member | I know. But what can the administrators do when they get violent reactions? I hardly think that Santa/Banta represent the average Sardar. But that is life. Even then Santa/Banta jokes continue to appear. And I have not banned anyone for posting a joke. As I said, suggestions are welcome.
