Some communities are often the subject of jokes more often than others.

Whereas some jokes are harmless, funny and need to be taken in the spirit of a joke, please be careful on posting community based jokes. In the past, I received some PMs objecting to certain jokes. Some jokes were deleted by me but I left most of them open because I felt that they were not a reflection upon the particular community.

All the following categories come under this classification:

a) Sardaraji Jokes
b) Marwari Jokes
c) Bihari Jokes
d) Mallyali (Keralites) jokes
e) etc.

Note that the above is not an exhaustive list.

If you even have an iota of doubt that the joke is too offending, vulgar, insensitive, etc., I suggest that you do not post such jokes.

Please do not PM Admin or Mods seeking their opinion about a joke. We cannot decide for you. But an offending joke will be deleted and you may get a Yellow or Red Card and even a temporary ban of 7 days.

After all we are not a community of jokers (please excuse the pun) and spreading jokes is not the main aim of the forum. But we need jokes to take the dullness out of the forum life. So we wish to be a fun loving community full of friendship and helpfullness. The last thing we would want is a racist tag.

If there are strong objections, let us decide on a policy. I welcome suggestions.

OK j4k. but one doesnt post jokes to hurt/target any individual community. now, it will be very difficult to decide which whether a joke is OK to be taken in the right spirit or it is harmful. For Ex: The sardarji joke posted by me which was deleted some days ago. One member protested and I myself asked you to delete it. Its ok. But I dont think it was harmful at all. What may seem objectionable to one member may seem harmless and funny to another. Setting parameters in this case is not possible. So, I suggest that jokes which face any issues/protests should be deleted but the no penalty for posting jokes/trying to make people laugh should come in the scenario here.

ok J4K i too will take care from now onwards...though none of my jokes are deleted (as i see remember) still will take care of that...!

You can remove reference to a community and make it generic as far as possible.

I know that people do not post jokes to insult a community. For example, Sardars are the most common target. But what is the reality?

You will usually find a Sardar jovial and happy.
You will observe that Sardars have usually a good sense of humour.
You will find that Sardars (and Gujaratis) are best at welcoming someone to their abode.
You will find that Sardars are usually outgoing and mixing and hence enterprising.
You will never find a lazy Sardar.
It will be almost impossible to find a Sardar begging.
And I do not need to say a word about their warrier qualities.

In one of thread i changed "Baniya" with "Kanjoos" but some other guy repost that joke with "Baniya" only

I think to avoid hurting any one community we should change all references
to individual communities to "indian".

e.g

Why did the Indian get on the roof of the bar?
He heard drinks were on the house.

Q: How do you make an Indian laugh on Saturday?
A: Tell him a joke on Wednesday.

rather than Indian its better to make it more generic as Little Johny or Master Johny would be better now there are many characters available get one...!
because as this is internet people all over the world can read them and i dont want to spoil the image of INDIA in front of others or they will start talking that see in their country only they are joking like this ...!
