Thread: Please, please, please, suggest me a new laptop (in India)

Hi All,

I am going to buy a new laptop by Dec end. My purpose is mainly using Microsoft office and internet browsing with a good battery life.

The essentials are-

1. Processor - intel centrino 2 - P series- P7350/P8400 etc.
3-4GB ram, atleast 160Gb hard disk

2. Vista business/Vista ultimate preinstalled.

3. Matte screen (non glossy) ( I dont need a glossy or a true life (dell) screen)
14'' display ( 15'' will be heavy, 13'' will be small)

4. Intel Integrated graphics preferably 4500 MHD.
I do not need a discreet graphics card.

5. preferably a 9 cell battery but a 6 cell will also do.

6. 3 yrs warranty but a 1 yr will do as well.

Budget < 50 k.

in one month prices will dip, I may delay it till Jan mid to take the price advantage.
so u can suggest a laptop upto 60k.

According to your given details you need a high performance laptop. Why you need P series processor ( 1066 Mhz FSB and 3MB L2 Cache). What types of applications you need to run and to make the optimum use of these processors you need Vista 64bit and many applications dont support 64 bit applications. So it would not be worth spending so much.

As for your laptop, In India neither HP and Dell are offering P series Processors in their systems yet. If somebody of your friend or relative is abroad preferably in USA from their you can get these specifications for around. US$ 1300.

you can do one thin visit dell.co.in and customize your Laptop and see its cost and configuration , there you can get 800 Mhz FSB with 3MB l2 cache and things and get a ram upgrade from outside as its cheaper as compared to companies.

How important for you to buy a laptop in dec08. can you wait until july09?

if not go for HP brand laptops

if yes, wait until new intel mobile i7 cores are ready to go

How to know its 6 cell or 9 cell.Dell battery has more life than HP.Is that difference due to number of cells?
