Hey guys!! First of all 40k is not a bench mark as in it cud be extended to 2-3k more. And i am unable to understand the difference between integrated and dedicated cards..Plz explain me wht is the major diff between the two..Also is it tht centrino 2 is better than core 2 duo?? and we have one more option Studio 15 which is a higher version of inspiron and below XPS..So is studio 15 worth the price?? i think it'll come for 44k..And inspiron is definately for 40k..the guy from dell himself has given me the quotation for it.abt acer, if i'll buy it, i'll buy only bcoz of u guys bcoz i am really not aware of its quality and performance..plz clear my confusions regarding all these things....

I can speak from experience that dell quality is better then acer. I am not too sure if dell has maintained their quality here in India but in UK dell rocks.

That doesnt answer my ques dear..I wanna know the diff between dedicated and integrated..also i wanna know is centrino 2 better than core 2 duo..Because ultimately i wanna use a laptop which performs efficiently, is robust, flexible and has really good sound output and effects...

I spoke with the dell person again..he clearified tht centrino 2 is a technology used by intel wherein the wi fi comes along the processor..also he says tht dedicated card is not needed unless i play some high end games..i am not a very gamer person..and if in future i need it i can upgrade my lappy with the dedicated card with Studio 15..but this option is not available with inspiron as in i cant upgrade it with the card later..Now tell me guys wht do u say????

Centrino 2 is not Acer's invention but of Intel's......... It is a Core 2 Duo processor only ...... Centrino 2 is an added functionality .

Dell Studio uses Centrino 2 enabled Core 2 Duo Processor [exact same processor ]...... And also same Integrated Graphics sols [ 4500MHD ] ......

Its Costlier Because It has some added functionality

    @Shivangi
Hey guys!! First of all 40k is not a bench mark as in it cud be extended to 2-3k more

And inspiron is definately for 40k..the guy from dell himself has given me the quotation for it
Inspiron can be customized and depending on how you do it . its price will vary from 36k - 46k ........ Obviously that Dell guy has quoted ceiling price [Inspiron Laptop with all possible functionality]

Also is it tht centrino 2 is better than core 2 duo?? and we have one more option Studio 15 which is a higher version of inspiron and below XPS..So is studio 15 worth the price??
Like i said in my previous post Centrino 2 is a functionality added to Core 2 Duo processor . Dell Studio and Acer Aspire both have it

Studio 15 has some added functionality hence it is costlier than Inspiron

    I ll Recommend Dell
    itsmemad will recommend Acer
    Admin will recommend Dell
And others will recommend a 100 other Brands .... In the end you have to decide with all the info you collected what u want .

As for me I use Dell a very old one and it has never given me any problem ..... Their Customer Care is very good and responsive [and polite] .... My friends who have recently bought Dell are also very happy with it . And their Quality is only getting better is anything .

    Hi Shivangi,
I have just now bought the DELL inspiron 1525 (for 43K) with 4Gb ram and an increased processor i.e. T8100 (2.1 Ghz, 800Fsb , 3mb cache).
I beleive that its a great deal with all the features that a person needs in a laptop. Its got Wifi, 15.4' screen, Bluetooth, 4gb ram , T8100 (latest) processor and its got the cheapest price as Dell has a quality that there is no middle man in between the customer and company so u get the cheapest price and the best quality laptops.
Also Dell has the best service and the easiest to upgrade as it's got the slot load drives which allows one to easily remove the drive or card and insert the new one. Or else you can customise the laptop according to your needs as well. i am very much satisfied with my laptop till now. Its light and good looking. I have attached the pics of the laptop for you.

As for your question the centrino2 is the latest technology and includes a wifi detecter on the chip itself whereas the core 2 duo has an additional mechanism for the wifi. I recoomend to go for core 2 duo as one should let the new technology to settle down, remove its pre-launch defects and let the people test it and make it error free and then only go for it. Core 2 Duo has the same processing capabilities as Centrino2 and is cheaper too....
I would recommend you to go in for Inspiron 1525...or may be any other model .... rest its up to you to decide...

Well Now you must decide . You even have a customer Review .

You get that Funky Multimedia Remote with all models of Dell . You can just slide it in from the Side of the Laptop and it ll fit in snugly .

    @Madan
Thanks for taking the time to put up that review with Pics

Integrated Graphics is a Graphic solution that is implemented comes inbuilt in the Motherboard .
Dedicated Graphics is a Graphic solution that is implemented in a seperate chip

Integrated Graphics technology is inferior to Dedicated Graphics .Then Why do they still have integrated graphics ?
Because they are cheaper .... Thats y

This is how a dedicated graphic card for a desktop looks like [Complete with its own fan !]

So i think i shud go for inspiron 1525 or Studio...Do u guys really think tht dedicated card wud relly b needed..if yes then i have to for Studio but its going over the budget...so is it worth the extra money??

    It depends again ....

If you want a laptop for Gaming Then you have to go for Dedicated Graphic card .

Without a dedicated graphic card the laptop will not be able to play HD movies in high Definition format [.mkv] or may play it in very inferior quality .

With a dedicated graphic card Vista and Windows 7[Next Version of Windows] will be able to display all effects smoothly without a problem .

If you r Ok with not having the above features then Go for Integrated Graphic card . Otherwise You have to go for dedicated Graphic card .

Choose wisely because i think you can only update components like Ram and i dont think you ll be able to add a graphic card later if you want to .

Shivangi According to my friends who are working in dell I can say that Dell studio has some complaints ( thats why they have removed the common colors from studio as well). But the Inspiron and the XPS are the best and if you want to have a lighter and a funkier laptop then go in for XPS otherwise go in for Inspiron.
I was also going in for Dell studio but my friend refused for it and changed it to Inspiron 1525 with the same configuration..... and on top of that if you are working in a corporate firm then you can get a 5% additional corporate discount as well which will further lower down your price.

No... Dell is best... if u r considering performance, customization options, and after sales service... U just need to spend a little more for the right config/model...

    hey Shivangi,
I will surely speak to my friend abt the corporate discount but it would be better if you go to dell.co.in and then customise the laptop according to your needs. Then you place the order...Now after a day or two you will get a phone call from a dell representative which will ask you for your order. Just go ahead and confirm it (dont make the payment then ... tell him to go ahead and send the quotation and let u decide once again on it) and then ask for the quotation from them including the corporate discount and any othe discount that they can give to you.
( You can bargain upto 2% dicount from them ). Then just send me the quotation and I will send it to my friend who will then reply me with the best price that he can get for you. Then you can go ahead and then bargain on that price. I got a discount too... I got my laptop for 39K....the one you have seen before....Its fully loaded and has all the features that a person needs.

    On the other hand.....
And according to me HP laptops are stylish, cool but not good in performance. They are basically entertainment laptops which have great screens, colors, graphics card etc but on the core processor, RAM and durability they fail when compared to DELL. On the other hand replacing a DELL part is as easy as just pressing a button and putting a new one (due to the slot loads option ) but for an HP one you need a service engineer to open its screws and then replace the old part.

Even DELL have a better customer care service though I have never faced the customer care till now, but my friend had to once and the dell executive came within 2 days and replaced the part at his home only.

Yaar cmon dont think too much .....what ever appeals you just go ahead with it......otherwise just write down the pros and cons for each product and where ever you get more pros go for it.....thats it.....thats your product

But if you are increasing the budget then apply the same for everyone i.e. then compare the HP DV6910 to Dell XPS 1530 and not inspiron.

lol... my little cousin sis also did very similar thing like u... after I zeroed in on a model after lots of research work... she saw HP's DV6500... and was floored by the looks... And u r right that in looks & screen display its even better than dell laptops...

HP isn't bad either... infact they are most suitable if u r buying a laptop for multimedia & entertainment purpose... btw, HP has surpassed dell & is no. 1 brand around the globe too...

yes i do agree. the HP acquired compaq because to increase their market share and want to be NO :1.

As shadow said sony vaio is very much popular over youngsters.

What ever the fact, dell leads the way , when you consider the service and professionally customizable to all.
