yes the xps is costly.but then it gives exclusivity.also it has much better reliability and lots of goodies like sot-loading battery indiacator etc.
the biggest reason i think one should select xps over studio is its reliability.

we could be talking about reliability issues like, lets see..
no blue screens,no data loss due to crashes, no dead pixels,no failed dvd writing sessions, and stuff like that basically..

my sister has an inspiron that was bought in july.it has had a change of motherboard and ram(under warranty),there is a cluster of,what i guess 4 dead pixels and now smart shows an error that hd failure is imminent, due to some problem in reallocated sector count...

that is why i am skeptical about them.

    ^ Very strange problems

Lot of my friends have Dell Laptops ........ they never had any such problems

if u have actually checked the specs , u ll find that the only difference between the models is the configuration .... But all the models use parts from the same companies most of the time

it depends on how u use a particular laptop ... dell inspirons are used by huge amount of ppl all over d world .. and it is considered to be the among the best for average budget laptops ... stop making opinions about brands/products on listening or seeing one -ve case ... most of us generally think this way ... make ur opinion by going through various reviews on different sites and forums....

the notebook was mainly used for orkuting and wtching movies...
i had a bad experience.i wrote abt it.and its the honest reviews that matter.as far as reviews are honest, even if -ve,i dont thnk there is any prblm.
and i still use xps.and love it.so what i am trying to tell is that people who r thinking of inspiron should go for xps..

dude he has all rights to share his experience, even if they dont match that of the general public. What u said is also true, that we should read reviews, but then he was just telling us abt his problem.

PS : the XPS 1530 is no longer on the website.

that is strange.because it is still available on the us site.
with xps you get an external modem and a creative noise isolation earphone, which are pretty good quality.
