Thread: Laptops are not 4 gaming !

This is gonna be a very controversial thread i think.
IMO if u see the top of the line gaming laptops, they cost +$2000.
They perform similar to higher-mid ranged desktop which would cost u half of that of the laptop. Battery life will be so bad that u will run out of power in 25-30 mins of gaming(even on a 9 cell). So the point is it will always stay on ur desk while u play(u need ac power almost all the time). So its a small/compact/very costly desktop.

Feel free to share ur thoughts.

I have always said that people should not buy laptops unless their situation demands it, e.g., academics, career, etc. Buying laptops for gaming, watching movies, surfing, etc., is waste (if not sheer waste) of good money. The reason because laptops are so difficult and/or costly to upgrade. Also mobile CPU cannot match the power of mainstream CPU.

Laptops come in handy when u are out of home or office when u dont have access to ur desktops. N just for gaiming purpose going for laptops is fooloshness (no offence meant) if u have surplus money it can be a reason to spent that.

Laptops i think are for those who use less power source softwareS or programs, like J4K said for academic use, business, browsing or if you travel a lot (considering you don't use heavy programs on it).

And if you want to play games, watch movies or download torrents then i think desktops are much better, if instead you use a laptop you not only waste money but cut the life of the laptop as well!

look there are desktop replacement laptops that can crunch pretty respectable numbers but you wont be eating anything for the rest of the month so i'd go with a eeePC anytime(why game on a laptop int the first place??)

on the contrary, i believe games on laptops are great as you can easily carry it to wherever you go and keep playing from the same point.

And if wish to be successful in corporate life, get out this habit ASAP.

I am a gamer and i dont use a laptop for gaming because

--> First and foremost it drains the battery power like hell .....

--> small screen sucks

--> Mobile cpus and mobile GPUs used in a laptop can never match that of a Desktop ....... it actually cant match up to even half the performance .... Because mobile processors tend to be smaller ,they have to compromise on performance .... Ex: Most desktop graphic cards are as big as the laptop's keyboard

-->i cannot replace my keyboard if keys get damaged because of repeated button bashing

-->its so much more costlier

i play almost all sorts of game on my laptop ... ibm r51 / celeron 1.4 / 256 ram .... from gta to fifa to nfs i play all sorts of game .... my laptop remains on at strech for almost a week as i continuosly dl stuff ... i never had a problem

None of the recent , semi-recent games will run on your config ... You happen to be a casual gamer so it suits u fine .....But for a hardcore gamer a laptop is completely useless

what i wanted to put across was that with laptops u cannot play all games
and the few u can play u wont get half the graphics u can get on a Desktop

So i come to the conclusion that laptops are unsuitable for gaming

Plus the experience just isn't the same.
You need to adjust the your line of vision with that of the laptop screen & if you get it don't get it right, you'll end up with a weary neck & eyes after an hour of gaming.
