Default How long will Dell Inspiron 15's batteries last??

Hi All,

After doing lot of research on buying a laptop. i cornered down on buying Dell Inspiron 15; but lately i came across few reviews which said the batteries are pathetic. Can anybody who has bought Dell Inspiron 15 laptop lately, tell me, what is the battery life of the Dell's standard 6cell primary battery? How long will it last if you use application's like Adobe Dream Weaver? Any kind of comments would be of great help. Thanks in advance.

Dell Inspiron 15 have 6 cell single battery...It will last for 2:30 to 3:30 hours.. Because that's the life of standard battery untill you use "Battery Extender"

It all depend on kind of software you use... If you left you laptop idle i'm sure it will give you battery backup of 4-5 hours, but if you surf internet, use web application like dreamweaver or use some image editing software it will reduce to 2-3 hours or may be less depend on how much resource your application grasp (Hope i'm clear).. I'm sure you can watch one standard movie when you fully charged your laptop...

I use HP TX1301AU tablet, whenever i watch movie it gives me 2 hour backup and i tried to measure how much it gives when left idle, result come to 3 and half hour..

In tot your lappy will give you 2-3 hours of backup if you do essential stuff...

P.S
I'm considering your battery fresh/Not faulty while guessing time...

Exactly correct what Gothic told..

it all depends on what you do, watching movies with loud sound etc will surely reduce the back up...

as i have heard it has a decent back up time of 1 hr (usage)

If battery backup is ur concern... Go for Dell XPS M1330 series... smaller the screen better the energy consumption... I've watched 2 hollywood movies back-to-back on this laptop(6 months old) without AC plugged in... roughly 3 hrs 15 min. of total time...

If you will work on dreamweaver in battery mode profile, it will run for anywhere in between 4 to 4.5 hrs!

P.S.- Make sure that the laptop you buy is loaded with 9 cell battery...

@ALL
Thanks a ton for your responses, i really appreciate it. Your responses helped me in a great deal.

@itsmemad
i would love to go for the XPS series, but i am little bit tight on budget. Dell inspiron is the only one that comes in my budget.

i had even plans to buy VAIO CS - VGN-CS22GH/B but it's battery life seems to be really bad. So i made up my mind to buy Dell. Well, as you guys mentioned, if it gives around 2hrs of backup while using web applications like Dreamweaver then it's good enough.

@ALL
Hope i made the right decision in deciding to buy Dell inspiron 15. My budget is around 35-40K........ any kinds of suggestion would be much appreciated.

OK.. Since you are tight on budget... I'll recommend you to take a look on one more option... Acer Aspire 4930Z. It will come within 35K. And its better than Dell inspirion 15 in performance.. As its integrated Intel's graphic card is better than Dell...

It also meets all the requirements sepecified by Intel Centrino 2. But inspirion doesn't...

Ask vendor if you can load 9 cell battery in it or not? If that happens... It will be excellent!

Read its review.

I second with maddy, With this much budget i'll definately go for acer, Dell makes good lappy but again just look for after effects, No lappy is omnipotent, it gives you pain now and then and i doubt about Dell service center, not because they're not able to fix problem but how much time and pain you recieve when for small problem also they take your laptop and send it to somewhere (May be US or Chennai)... I hope you're getting my point

I agree, Acer had problems with its battery earlier... in its Travelmate series to be precise... But now thats not true... Battery backup is as good in Acer as any other brand... Moreover Centrino 2 certification of 4930z ensures that the battery backup is on par or even better than inspirion...

Anyway, its a matter of personal choice too... And since your usage are standard... Inspirion will serve you good...

Acer 6930 has 16 inch of display... Hence its bulky(3.4 KG) and consumes more power... It won't give you more than 2 hrs even in standard usage! It will come around 45 K...

Acer 4930z has standard 14.1 inch monitor...

Tell me one thing... Do you require big screen too?
