HP/Compaq laptops especially with nvidia are not suitable for Indian climatic situations as they get heat up pretty fast.even though HP was aware of this issue still it did nothing about this matter.in that DIGIT article they mentioned that 2 customers have to get their motherboard replaced 8 times in a year & still they are not sure if their motherboard will last more than a few days.also many customers have complaint about HP's repair service which took extremely long time.in some cases it took as long as a month.in fact among all the complaints DIGIT received the 1st place went to HP/Compaq in their customer service complaints section.

P.S. btw by personal experience i meant that of my friend.i have never owned any laptop though my brother has a DELL which i used for just 10 days.

Ya thats true nvidia supplied faulty GPU's to HP because of which M/B got too huch heatup and gaveup. Thats true.

If DIGIT had such an article means HP lost lots of Goodwill, will have to suffer.

Just give a try search any brand in this world with reviews and i bet you will find all the brands having some unlucky customers who had problems with that product or their after sales service.

Personal experience dont matters much what matters is the way each and every human reacts to things and its normal, normally what happens is that he will read one review or will come accross a story about a product and will carry on that. Thats it.

Personal experience i owned Hp laptop for more than 3yrs this one is my second one the first one is still going on without any broblems, even if i used it roughly i abused it then too its going on except few scratchs and paint loss, dvd drive is giving some sort of reading problems its invitable.

I never got a chance to visit hp service center so dont have any story to tell, ya but i have heard the service centers in B'lore are the best one.

Guys, Nvidia supplied faulty GPUs to EVERY1.

The problem was in the quality of silicon used.
Even the Macs, HPs and even Dells that had the GPU had the issue. It was Nvidia's fault. They took the laptops back. replaced the GPUs. Some of the replaced ones also were faulty. they had to be sent back. The fact is that it was not HPs fault.

I dunno what heat ur talking about.
There is no point me telling, or some1 reading it online or in a magazine. y don't u just go to the HP store near you.

Their PCs run cool. Even under load. My close fren has an Dell Studio 15, and his younger bro got a XPS16, both run hot even in idle for 15-20 mins.

and, deepmohan, is a relatively happy customer of an HP product. Their service is something i don't know about, as i never needed them (i got an HP laser jet, not really related).

My point is, let us not mix issues.....
Faulty GPU was totally Nvidia's fault, HP could not be held responsible for it.

Climate.... i dunno yaar, never heard of that. Could be the case for ppl living near the sea, but, still, its a VERY isolated case. Btw, the HP DV6 has an ATI 4650 1GB, not an Nvidia card.

also, back to topic, that DV6 scored a 5.1 in vista score. HDD was the slowest part. GPU scored a 5.9 . I really dont care about those things, but just wanted to tell.
So let me list u its pros:
1) Decent processor
2) "Good' GPU. Way faster than a ATI 4570.
3) Runs cool
4) Looks good
5)lightscribe
6)Free carry bag, and a tata indicom Photon or a 4GB MP3 player, and 1 more thing, i dont remember.
7)Rs20,000 lesser that the XPS13 and the studio u had told.
Cons:
1)Not the most protable laptop. Its about 2.5Kg.
2)The screen is reflective, u could strain ur eyes if ur out in the sun (due to reflections)
3)The surface looks good, but can get dirty quickly due to glossy finish.

Also, i found the keyboard pretty good to use. it was full size.
