On 13th june 2009 edition of TOI, i read this article. HP is the biggest PC vendor in india.
let me give u the stats:
VENDOR Q1 09 Q4 08
HP 18.2% 15.6%
HCL Info 9.8% 9.6%
Dell 9.7% 11.0%
Acer 7.3% 7.7%
lenovo 4.7% 6.6%

In the time when HP grew, DELL faded. Now, is this because HP has terrible service, i dont think so !!

So, kaus, to end this debate frm my side, just go to the HP store and see what it is. Then decide if its worth spending Rs 20,000 more, to avoid a 1% chance of having a defective PC.

i am not saying don't buy HP.just giving all details so users can decide for themselves.as for HP share of course they are no.1 but that is also mainly because they are lot more established & known than DELL in India.btw HP just last year(or maybe 2)got the 1st position in computers market because of its large success in business section.before that DELL was no.1 for a long time.

^^^ Agreed. Lets not make a mindset that its HP, so lets not buy it. Just go to the store and have a look and figure out what features will benefit u the most.

hey i am planning to go to the HP dealer today...
would tell you what happens.... actually there is no big HP delaer in my town, so thts why i was asking for the specs on the net, so that i could order from the net directly.....

But just keeping my fingers crossed.... would tell you what happens....

hey i went to the HP dealers...
I didnt find that dv6 laptop, but i found dv4 1241TX...
It has got
512MB Nvidia 9200 MS Graphics card,
2GHz Core 2 Duo,
320 GB harddisk,
3GB RAM
14.1" screen...

I saw the laptop its of choclate brown colour and looks good. but i noticed that it has a really small track pad... Does anyone has any experience of HP Track Pad... It was of ,metallic colour and bit small...

my suggestion is stay away from HP laptops with nvidia cards for the time being.for HP ATI cards are recommended.

i did not like that DV4 much. Just w8 for a few weeks bro. The product will get updated soon(i hope). They are gonna be price cuts soon (for sure).

I don't want to continue the war " dell or hp , who is the best?"

i just want to tell my personel experiences.

my cousin brought a new compaq destop in 2007 august. the problem started at moment it was turned ON at home. Some sort of messare"powersurge at usb port" came. even shop technicians didn't knew what to do? they tried everything and nothing worked!! only after 1 month of trouble they figured it out by some how sending it to somewhere.

On the other hand, in 2009 april my friend brought new inspiron desktop from dell through online. it was working fine. Last week (june 11) its DVD writer was somehow damaged. he called dell customercare and they told that will be replaced in 4 days. Last saturday(june 13)@5:30pm it was fixed by replacing the orginal one and now its working fine.

See the difference??!!!

Now you decide DELL or HP??

(i don't have any personel liking to any brand- JUST my experiences).(Well hp's printer is superb anyways. its been 7 years and not much deadly complaints!!)

I will never recommend compaq, and it will not be fair too to compare compaq and dell, because compaq is a sub grade product of HP.

And the problem stated by you both are different and non comparable problem, one related to M/B and other related to disk-drive

see the difference.

I admire Dell's initiative.

The model is DV6 1110AX as i have said in that post(cant remember if it was DAX or 0AX).

I saw it in 3 places in bangalore city. If u r in bangalore, u can see it @ chroma in koramangala, Chroma in Eva mall and The HP store @ forum mall koramangala.

It costs 47.5K incl taxes. U get a Carry bag free. If u buy 1 b4 30th, u will get Rs3000 off on Tata indicom Photon+ and a 4GB MP3 player.

also, according to its processor specs, it looks like a Turion Ultra, because it says the HT speed is 3600. I will try to confirm soon.I will HOPE to get a sample on monday, i will confirm then.

I checked the dell site. They stopped providing centrino 2 in their dell studion 15 laptops. So acc to me DV6 111DAX is the best deal with ATI 4650 1GB card. Any updates guys.
