No, I dint check Netbooks. I just find them somewhat underpowered/limited to last 3-4 years of usage.

Could you please elaborate on the Lenovo suggestion?
Why u think that it is better than other 2 (esp the Compaq being in same price band).

Btw, the Dell inspiron 15 has the following specs :
Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T6400
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic
3GB DDR2 SDRAM (1x1GB + 1 x 2GB)
15.6" 720p WXGA (1366x768) TrueLife
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD

and its Rs 33,990 + tax.
Hence i think this is a better deal(since u get an OS too)

That's DELL Inspiron (Not Studio).
It is the same one I've mentioned above. The latest Dell Inspiron is coming with T6500 instead of T6400 processor. And dealer is willing to give me Vista Premium in place of basic for Rs:500/- extra. (ie., Rs 33,990 + Carry Bag + Vista Premium upgrade + Tax = 38K)
Also, All The prices I've quoted above are inclusive of all taxes and a Carry Bag.

I m not a fan of the compaq series. The Dell is a bit costly for no real reason. so i did suggest a lenovo.

I just chked the website, they are giving it with T6400 only(@ base config).

Also, when will u buy it ??

Dont pay that extra 500 for Vista premium, bcos u will get a free upgrade to windows 7 anyways.....

looking at the three options i would have gone with DELL studio 15{this is my personal view} .

There must have been many factors governing my decision including the bigger screen size, more powerful processor, more ram,Windows Vista Original version, after sales service, etc. which obviously are justified considering the cost difference with the other two options

Actually, currently shipping ones are in transition phase from T6400 to T6500. So website is not updated. The person at Dell Store told that if I order now, then it will take 7-10 days for delivery and I will get the one with T6500 by that time.

Lenovo G430 4152B3Q does not have a HDMI port i think & if it is true then there is no point in wasting money on a laptop with no HDMI now-a-days.go for dell.

u do know that dell service (after the free 1 year) is a lot more expensive than some1 like HP.

Y dont u look at the new HP DV2 notebook ??? It looks gr8, its slim and light.

It should be more than enough for ur needs. Its about 36k in bangalore.

both crappy.

and they same i think

He needs it 4 work. So i do not think HDMI will/should be a deciding factor.

For office u need portability, battery life and style. Performance not a huge concern too.

I would strongly suggest something cheap and not high end. Inspiron 15 is good, it would land up 2 about 40k(inc tax and stuff). Plz chk out the DV2. Its real good.

Or even a 12" netbook will be fine.

Chk out www.techshop.in they got a huge range of laptops now.

HDMI is necessary now-a-days.its like saying stick with DDR RAM when DDR2 is already in market.HDMI is vey useful in connecting various displays not to mention less wire clutter & more quality.
