Thread: Laptop Concern: HP/Dell/Lenovo/Sony

Hi All,

Firstly, in case I am asking an already answered question, kindly pardon me (as I am new to this forum )

I want to buy a Laptop (from Delhi, India) and my budget is around 45000 INR. I am very confused between the models (and also the brands). 30% of my peer group are referring me HP, 30% Lenovo, 30% Dell and the rest have mix opinions.

I zeroed down to one - HP DV6 series. Primarily, I want to have a decent Laptop, good enough for Movies + Gaming. But, having so many options (and so many different opinions) I am left confused. I guess HP is better (in terms of Appearance and Quality), although I am not sure comparing other brands.

Kindly recommend me a good laptop (the brand). I will choose the models from Internet. I would really appreciate in case you are able to provide Models too. Specifically, kindly share reviews/pointers about HP DV6 series.

At Rs45,000 , i can not see any laptop better than the HP DV6. Go for it!

if you want to buy a laptop first go & see for yourself various brands & as for quality/appearance rest assured that both DELL & Lenovo are as good & sometimes even better than HP & for brand value/looks/quality there is no match for SONY VAIO series.

All are good brands. Basically it will boil down to which one gives more for same.

You can buy dv6, its good for entertainment.

Also, please confirm that the Laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista free of cost... I guess, almost all brands are offering it if the Laptop is bought in between June 26th to December 31st, 2009.

Lenovo is nowhere near DELL or HP!!


Discard LENOVO and choose between HP or DELL!!


I use DELL XPS M1210!! It has been more than 2 years and it works great!!

Lenovo is not that bad, some thing from Y-series is good. But still i'd prefer Dell/HP.
