Rajan is correct. Although I have never been to China and cannot confirm for sure, I am fairly certain that USA is cheapest place to buy electronics.

For example, the Sony Z-Series 1080p 46" TV:

    a) In USA, US$ 2375 plus Sales Tax. At max tax (CA = 9.25%) this works to Rs. 127,087/-.
    b) In Singapore, S$ 5,499.00 (US$ 1 = S$ 1.4400). This works out to Rs. 187,150/-
    c) In India, Rs. 183,900 /-.

But the 'Z' series TV is still a bad example, it is a very recent launch and still very expensive all over the world. A 40-42" Full HD TV costs only US$ 1200 to US$ 1800 in US.

Just visit websites of stores such as Best Buy, Sears, Fry's, etc. to check the prices. In stores such as Costco, the deals are even better. Plus during season sale such as Black Friday, the discounts are as high as 40%.

nice cam bro.... you can record in Full HD.....but 80GB = around 3Hrs of recording.... you better get a 1TB HDD on you PC ...

PC component prices during thanksgiving are very low too (in the US)

here, even at diwali , they remain same

    OK.

Agreed that goods in US are cheaper than in India. But there is a difference when it comes to importing on your own as personal effects.

Some items, such as one laptop, one digital camera, etc. are OK. There is no import duty. But when it comes to big items, there is customs duty to be paid. When true customs duty is paid, the price difference evaporates.

If u go online to sites from Dell, Acer, Hp, Apple any brand, if u check the rates as in US in $$ n convert it to Indian currency than it will be always cheaper. Contrary if u check the rates in any shop in India or even if online for India.. it will be costly.

Y is this diffrence?? if its the matter of slight difference than understood. but the difference is large.

Right now i m bit confused. Like i am going to US. I need a pc at home. Now i m thinking whether i should buy a new desktop for home and take my present laptop to US??

But when i checked the prices for US.. i mean i can get a decent laptop for 600$ i mean a config of 4gb ram and 250 to 500 gb HDD, dual core processor, web cam, card reader n blue tooth inbuild.

I guess the config is pretty ok.. all we can say is approx costing only 30k rupees.. i think a desktop even can cost minimum of 25k decent one.

    Comments and adivses please.....

P S... is there gonna be a big difference between dual core and core 2 duo if i buy any of the one??

My main usage if i will get the above config laptop ... will be little of gaming, songs, movies, internet... etc etc.. not more than this.. so processors where does they play role exactly? can anyone tell me in detail?? i have checked .. most of the laptops in Dell in this or lesser than this range of money will have Dual core and not core 2 duo processors..

if selecting core 2 duo it will be approx more than 5 to 6 thousand more.. is it worth spending this much extra??? where actual real difference comes in usage??
i think because the electronics are made in US and then transported to india.

and then take the eg. of Apple Iphone.its 34K in india but only $199 in US.

No. Most electronic items are directly imported from the factories in Taiwan, Malayasia, China, etc.

That was 30 years ago, now everything is "Made in China"

That $199 is because you have to sign a contract for about
    $70 a month.

That contract is about using the service of AT&T which will be at same price whether you use Iphone or not but when using Iphone you can't discontinue using the service.

Not exactly, with iphone you are forced to chose their data plan (about $70).
With other phones you can chose plans starting at $30.

The contract is the same thing for whatever phone.
you can't discontinue in the middle without penalties
whether iphone or some other phone.

yes buying from US is always better when you buy from their respective sites..

Yeah but that plan is same for Iphone users or other mobile phone users. You are forced to sign contract if you buy subsidise Iphone but not in case of other phone which are not that much subsidise.
