I use a MAC and my friend advised to eject the battery while in power mode to save battery life. Will some real laptop techy suggest if this is right.

you mean "power down mode" ?
Every battery has a limit on how many times it can be charged and used and thats true for a laptop battery as well but when you have the power chord hooked in the battery will keep charging and cut of the charging process once your battery is fully charged so I "personally" dont see any logic in taking the battery out.
More over even if you keep doing that over the years how much extension would it give you ? a month? two months? is the hassel of taking out the battery every time you are on AC power worth it?
The first thing you should do is to make friends with the 'Energy Saver' preference pane. The 'Sleep' tab that you will be able to find in this preference pane will probably become your best friend in a very short time after you will notice how much power your MacBook will save after you will set the 'Energy Saver' to put to sleep the computer and the display after a certain amount of time of inactivity.
Here you can also check the 'Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible' option, which will allow your MacBook to stop any hard disk activity in case no application will need access to it. To be sure you are conserving as much battery life as possible when you're mobile click on the 'Settings For' list box in the 'Energy Saver' preference pane and then choose the 'Better Battery Life' in the "Optimization" drop-down menu.
We should all do this and learn how to save energy until it's not too late.
Do keep in mind that ur laptop battery is made by several 18650 series 3.7 V Li-ion's cells which performs good till 500 cycles(1 cycle=1full charge and discharge) till 500 cycles cells dispenses 90% of their storage capacity say ur cell is rated 2000mAH(milli amp hours) till 500 cycles it will produce 1800-1850mAh after 500+cycles their capacity will deteriorate significantly,so keep track of your battery charge and discharge cycles also in hot temperatures battery looses charge rapidly than cold weather, the optimum temp to use Li-ions is 10-18 deg C.

if one of these fail in ur battery pack then u have to buy new pack!!! or rebuild it by purchasing these separately.
