I have only used IBM/Lenovo is the last six/seven years. So I am unable to give an opinion.
But from what I heard, Dell is also good.
Personally, I like small laptops that weigh no more than 1 kg.

i think sony viao...is better in performance...
but dell also leads with cheaper price with great configs...
if dell with c2d p 8600 + nvidia 9200m grfc car Costs 45K - 50K
Sony Viao Costs around 80K - 100K..........................
now my dad has sony FW [[ VGN-FW47GY/H ]]
its best
i have dell and apple in my home.........
Its been so many years now and I still cant get rid of my ancient Packard bellIt works perfectly fine and has never given me any trouble atall but its weight is too much and it has that old dull screen... I would love to check out one of the new laptop models but it is going to be a ver tough decision to retire my current laptop as I spent a fortune when I bought it as it was the best of the best in those days
I think one can get the same config for Rs20k now and I spent Rs 125000 back in 2003 ie 6 years ago.
I will make it a point not to spend more then 30-35k this time so I can change it after two years without getting a heart attack. Thats if I finally decide to buy a new one because at the moment I have no plans to chuck this one outWill give Dell a try as many of you have voted for Dell.
@ imrock.....
really dell rox...
dell is really pathetic imo ().... i have used 2 laptops. Studio 15 and XPS 16, both run too hot, making them a portable desktop more than a laptop.
There is nothing standout. the XPS 16 build quality is good, but too overpriced.
as for the studio 15, did not like it at all...
