HI all i have a compaq presario laptop ..quite old one. I am connecting the laptop directly to the main power plug with out battery or UPS. Yesterday there was a sudden power failure. Later on my laptop is not starting up .. it is not starting up in Safe Mode even.

Can any one let me know what can be the problem?? And if possible what can be the solution

one should use ups even if power conditions are normal...

i think its a problem with the power input, or the Bios battery is harmed..

ok thanks.. but do u have any idea how much deos that cost to set it back if the problems persist among the option given by u

if its a power input failure than there are diff things for it...maybe just the jack is harmed, or maybe the circuit ic is gone.... no idea for it...

changing of the Bios cell is also to be done cautiously... i heard it gives problems when new bios batt is linked...

if your comp is in warranty period it will be better..

btw are you able to go into the system configuration?
