It seems that almost all major laptop manufacturers are moving towards Linux Laptops these days. As everyone knows that the obvious reason for moving towards Linux laptops is the fact that it is relatively much cheaper than the laptops which comes bundled with Windows that too now Windows Vista, which seem to very overpriced at the moment.
But such a move to move towards Linux can have a negative impact too, as many of youngsters and even software professionals were not as proficient in Linux than that they were in Windows based OS, hence those would prefer to have the laptops pre-installed with Windows Vista rather than Linux.
It has its advantages too and that the main advantage is that of the price, as Linux laptops are surely going to bring down the price of laptops very considerably now. The other advantage is that of security which is said to much higher in Linux than that of Windows based laptops which were evident on many such previous instances.
Coming back HP is planning to introduce these Linux laptops in the second quarter of 2008. They are going to offer Novell’s Suse Linux Enterprise which will be preinstalled at their factories itself and ready to use for the end user. HP is also going to rollover Linux PCs too in the very near future.
Although this is a good move but only time can tell on how successful are these Linux based laptops are!
